We were tuning from the pressure sensor last night... seemed to like tuining off of that MUCH better...

JP 9? Sorry, i dont know as much about this EM stuff as FSTRLDR... I thin kwe are setup for hotwire, but it is HW1, and the new stuff we need is HW2...???

im sorry, jumper 9 inside of the e-manage itself.

(1). The stock computer is still getting feedback from the 02 sensors at WOT, and therefore still ******* with the signal. We belive by using the FM 02 clamp we can solve this problem. I think that this system is basically like the MPI, and without the "Turbo Module" on the MPI, or a FM 02 Clamp with this, the stock computer is still going to **** with the signal. We should be able to hook the FM 02 up today or tommorow.

(snip)...

This ECU is a jerk all around. Everytime you think you got it under control, it some how butts its way back into the conversation and messes things up.

National Bank

Bump cuz I funded this by buying the MPI from daedalus
Now waiting on Squatty for a plenum so I can make a real mess.

Okay new updates ....

THE MAZDASPEED:

So far the emanage and the mazda have not been the best of friends... we tried to tune around the fact that we couldn't use the airflow meter or crank angle sensor involved features. ... well the car seems to be able to retune itself as fast as we can. The first problem we ran into was a nasty lean condition on tip in when we were tuning the A/F by throttle position and RPM. When we added in the GReddy pressure sensor, tuning became easier, and eliminated the lean out problem. However the car still wanted to override our settings, i should have checked the fuel trims, but as you can see from the post above this we had some issues not related to the car before we finished. Our next addition will be the flying miata o2 signal modifier. this will basically keep the stock ECU from being able to read from the O2 sensor when under boost, keeping the engine from being able to trim fuel based on this.

Now on to THE IS300:

where to start.... i checked the emanage against the scan tool today, ignition timing is 1-2 deg higher on the emanage, which can be offset in the software. The Intake temp and water temp were w/in a couple of deg of each other w/ the emanage reading a little higher (1-2 deg max). I have been playing around tuning a little bit, and still have not gotten the Air/fuel to read right on the emanage. GReddy was no help on this, i will contact INNOVATE tomorrow to see if they have any suggestions. The best news is have is that the Rev limit change works! ... honestly i didn't expect it to. This feature will only work on cars that use fuel to activate the rev limit.
revafter.JPG

this is the "map" to set this feature.....

revlimit.JPG

obviously the map is just roughed in, but it was safe air fuel wise, and allows the higher rev limit. ... Now i just need some valve train and cam upgrades to make use of this feature!

The jumper is set for the mazda high to low airflow signal, again the problem is that when on the Blue emanage you could set the rotary dial for whatever combo you wanted. In the ulitmate this is all software driven, and nothing w/ the proper cam/crank angle sensor, or airflow meter is listed yet. At least my IS is happy w/ it, lol i'm 3/10 faster w/ the emanage than w/ out, and thats on a 99.9% stock car :)

(2) My catch can was allready full with over an inch of oil in the bottom. Is the amount of oil blown out by these engines normal, or did my rings not seat, etc??? .

If your rings did not seal, you would be burning it in the combustion chamber and would be letting out a black/Grey smoke out your tailpipe.

Well, when I go to WOT, I do have black smoke come out the tailpipe... I just thought it was extra gas from the car running uber-rich....

greddy used to have the FS-ZE listed in thier manual for the old greddy, no? why would they take it out

thats what I would love to know as well...

So we installed the FM 02 clamp and tried tuning it again... The result is not much happened... The car still feels slow, and we cant really figure out if the stock ecu is still ******* with the signal. It would lean out on tip in and then go pig rich again... The check engine light is on every time we start the car with the cylinder #2 misfire code which brings me to the ever important questions.

(1). Does throwing the CEL for the cylinder misfire kick the computers "limp mode" on in any way to alter its Fuel/Timing curves?

(2). How can we get rid of the CEL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

PLEASE POST UP ANY INFO THAT MIGHT HELP US!!! I'm getting to the point where i've had enough of crappy mazda engineering and want to get rid of this piece of yellow s***. (blowup)

Well, I don't think this is neccessarily crappy mazda engineering. I mean yeah the ecu isn't the easiest to work with, but there are plenty of options out there that are known to work, you just picked an unknown one (not that that's a bad thing; it's great, just frustrating).

To clear the cel, can you disconnect the battery and hold the brakes? Would that reset it?

I've heard both yes and no in regards to limp mode. I'm interested to know the answer as well.

i'm pretty sure its going in to limp mode, it was tuning out before we tried the last run w/ the check engine light on.... it's always frustrating when things don't work right. Its a lot of trial and error to test things like this out, and doesn't help when GReddy gets rid of the setting we need to make this thing run. GReddy USA seems way to busy trying to get the Nissan VQ engines figured out to play w/ much else right now. For right now i think the biggest concentration will be to figure out this code for the misfire... the first night i took the car out it didn't do it, and if it seems like it won't throw it if you drive it extra nice for the first couple miles, this happens regardless of engine temp or anything, oh well guess all we can do is play around a little more, and see what happens.

figured matt would have posted up since i hadn't but long story short, GReddy USA is going to talk to GReddy japan, and see what they know about this car... anybody know if there are any JDM cars sharing the FSDE engine? You can check the transonic site for the full update, and to see the auto tune working if you want to be teased a little more for one of these!

Yes, the Familia in Japan is the Protege. It had a couple of engine options to include the FS-DE...

Its the ECU that causes the problems though, not the motor. And, if you are throwing a CEL, maybe that issue shoul dbe dealt with first. Otherwise the Greddy won't be able to do anything.

I think the reason it throws the cell is because of the wrong motor settings, I know for a fact it will give you lots of problems.

As for limp mode i dont believe it, my car runs with the CEL on all the time and it makes no difference to it whatsoever, my emanage runs fine and he WB shows the same AF readings if its on or not

well there are three codes that come up w/ this car .... two of them are related to the emanage, those GReddy should be able to help w/. The third only happens when i let matt in his car. the night i did testing on my own it never poped on lol. That code is a cyl 2 misfire, that we obviously need to fix before going any farther w/ this. I have been looking through a lot of the info, and need to check some things on the car at this point and see if we can pinpoint the problem w/ that. As for the limp mode, i don't know for certain if it there or not, and it may depend on the reason for the check engine light as well. You say your check engine light is on all the time? .. what is the cause?

In my car, as soon as we clear the code and restart the engine, it comes right back. Code is always: MAP sensor out of range.
