Sorry to burst your bubble... but I know of several 3000GT's running this system already... so definitely not the first.. and yes it is E-Manage Ultimate.

Really? My bad... greddy made it sound like we were the first and we aked several people that all said they knew of no-one! Glad there are 3000's running it though, the next install up is a VR-4...

It got installed today! I'll give you some more details tommorow night... I work pretty hard core between then and now...

And 03MSP... i'm def giving you a call... I cant belive you got taken to the darkside of megasquirt!!!

The suspense is killing! :P

It's hard to know who has done what... so yeah... no issue there... I realize my comment sounded arrogant... I was teasing... But yeah, buddy just down the street who I work with has it in his Stealth, and a good number of others in the 3SI club are running it... so I'll be curious to see it in person with him, and to see how you do as well!

Good luck,

Steve

Update (Mazdaspeed stuff towards the bottom...)

Okay the good, the bad, and the ugly of today's Emanage experience.

The IS is running awesome, and keeps getting faster the more i play.... i didn't get a chance to change over to monitor the knock sensors yet so i haven't pushed the timing advance very far yet, but after starting to play w/ the A/F logs, and leaning things out a little, its for sure getting quicker. I will probabblly take it out and do some G-tech runs w/ it later this week for some before and after comparisons.

okay the bad ... I hooked the INNOVATE LM1 up to the emange, and being a US product, the emanage had zero preset for it! ... none of the ones in there want to work perfect so far, but there is a couple of numbers for adjustement, of course there is no explanation of these in the book, so it will either take a phone to GReddy (not holding my breath) or some research.

More than a little off right now! but at least i can use both programs at once now since the new emanage is USB based, and the LM1 is still serial port hookup.

the final good/bad of the day .. the mazdaspeed has its emanage, but isn't going flawless, i kinda doubted it would, but was hopeful. the good new is that it will start! lol .. thats important, now the bad is that there is no engine code listed w/ the right air mass sensor for the Protege. That is one thing i miss about the old emanage is the ability to change the rotary settings for custom applications. I'm sure it will come around tomorrow though.

Hopefully we get everything figured out today!!! I need my daily driver back!

IMPOTANT QUESTION: Does the Miata or any other mazda engine have a similar air mass sensor???

Most of the MAF's are the same or very close... I believe the 626 shares the same MAF... go to car-part.com and search the junkyards... it will automatically cross list the useable models.

I thought the ultimate e-manage had a built in jumper instead of the Mazda hot wire

adapter, i think it is jumper 9 on the circuit board.

well it does have the Mazda hot wire system built into it... and we tried using the miata BZ6E engine code on it but it must be an older version or something because it read HW1 and now HW2...

More to come..

car-part.com rocks, I ended up getting a replacement MAF for $65. With a LIFETIME WARRANTY!??!!?!?! Booyah!

The other thing that changes w/ engine code is the crank angle sensor, and i'll be honest i'm not the most framilar person when it comes to mazda piston engines, so this will take some trial and error to get working 100%. We don't NEED the crank angle hooked up, but w/ it this will allow us to monitor actual ignition timing, and not just what the emanage is changing. my other question is there a set of actual coil on plug coils that fit the protege engine w/ out much work? ... this has the ability to change wasted spark ignition to actual individual coil w/ the crank and cam angle connections hooked up. If i don't find the 2jz supra coils for my IS, i may try this feature out on the mazdaspeed. :)

I think that the BP-ZE or B6-ZE are the other hotwires that use the resistor.

I'm not following what you mean by "since the innovate is a US product, there is no preset for it". 0-5 volts is 0-5 volts worldwide, what is there to calibrate?

what i ment is that the Ultimate just showed a list of the widebands that are preset for it, and i couldn't find an any details on the numbers that followed the wideband options. NOT all of there air fuel metering options are 0-5v. I talked w/ Benny today at GReddy, and he said the numbers following the air fuel are just min and max voltage, although the numbers i was seeing were 0-20.00 and 10.0-30.00 so i don't know if there is a decimal thats off on those or what, but i will play w/ that later.

On to the MSP ..... w/ full connections the car will run like crap, and throw a check engine. First check engine light is kicked for the air mass voltage low. (becasue we can't select the right one in the software) if i bypass that the second check engine light is triggered for cam angle sensor. I'm not sure what the emange is doing w/ the signal, but something is cause it to throw a code. I assume the cam angle changes w/ the crank angle when you pick the engine. So at this time until GReddy releases some US vehicles in the software (the ultimate no longer has the rotary knobs to force it into vehicles not listed) we can not run the full features from the ultimate. luckily we should still be able to change air fuel by throttle x RPM via the injector out put, and ignition timing can still be changed as well, so in that respect it should still be good. Without that crank angle signal working we will not be able to monitor real ignition timing (w/out the use of a scan tool), and will not be able to raise the rev limit :( I will post some more info and screen shots tonight on how well things are working w/ it so far.

Okay, i see now, for some reason the emanage is seeing 13.3V in that picture. AFAIK, the innovate outputs 0-5V...so can you set the greddy to 0min 5V max input? I dont know the software so i dont know.

emanage isn't showing voltage its showing what it thinks is the air fuel.... and no the guy at GReddy wasn't right .... its not voltage lol .. i'll have to read through the book again and see if i missed something. as for the MSP ... w/ out the right Airflow meter listing in the software, we can't use it to clamp the airflow signal, and get rid of the fuel cut. :( .. so 10lbs or so is still max right now ... the good news is that a tuned 10lbs feels much better than an untuned 10lbs!

Allright heres the official update.

Good News:
- Found and Fixed Coolant Leak off of Turbo
- Fixed DP rattle!!!!
- Fixed Catch Can Leak
- Fixed Alternator Belt Squeel
- Fixed Wastegate loosening up...

Got the car running last night with the boost turned down to 10lbs. Without Greddy updating their software for our engine, we have no way to control the air flow meter on my car, and therefore stop fuel cut. Right now we are using the Miata presets for this car. So after tuning it on the wideband a couple times we found out there were a couple problems.

(1). The stock computer is still getting feedback from the 02 sensors at WOT, and therefore still ******* with the signal. We belive by using the FM 02 clamp we can solve this problem. I think that this system is basically like the MPI, and without the "Turbo Module" on the MPI, or a FM 02 Clamp with this, the stock computer is still going to **** with the signal. We should be able to hook the FM 02 up today or tommorow.

(2) My catch can was allready full with over an inch of oil in the bottom. Is the amount of oil blown out by these engines normal, or did my rings not seat, etc???

(3) We are throwing a Cylinder 2 Misfire code everytime we start the car. I belive that this has happened ever since I got the car back (my CEL came on 2 minutes after I left the shop a month ago and has stayed on since) And now clearing it, starting the car and driving will throw the code without fault. Why would this be happening???

I'm sure Fstrnldr will have a more complete description of this and have more details of what I might have left out.

Are u using the optional pressure sensor from Greddy? I dont have the airflow meter

hooked up to my EM but i can still tune off of the pressure sensor. Also did u set JP 9

for the Mazda hotwire? Also what all do you have hooked up with the new 14 pin

harness? Hope u get it running the way u want, i was thinking of switching to

Ultimate but now i dunno.:(

We were tuning from the pressure sensor last night... seemed to like tuining off of that MUCH better...

JP 9? Sorry, i dont know as much about this EM stuff as FSTRLDR... I thin kwe are setup for hotwire, but it is HW1, and the new stuff we need is HW2...???
