My MS3 was stolen on Friday!!

Well I met with the insurance adjuster yesterday morning and then I met with the insurance investigator yesterday. Apparently, since they think my case is suspect, they aren't going to give me anything --- just yet. If they decided to close my claim without paying, I will sue them faster than you can say "Zoom Zoom!" More to follow next week...when I get their decision...

(argh) suspect??? Like they think you did it??? Seriously...if they don't come through, then time to get a good attorney.

I'm sorry if you already mention this but, what insurance company do you have?

They are probably listing it as suspect because car was found a few days after they should have settled and you had already bought a new car.

yeah, but he is trying to get rid of the car, it's not like he wants to keep both (dunno) they should just take it and total it or fix it up.

Why wait? Get a lawyer now who will get you and him paid.

I already have a lawyer on this. I am just waiting for their final decision on whether they are going to pay for it or not.

BTW...the reason it is suspect to them is not because of the fact that I got a new car a week before they found my old one. That is really silly, what good would that do me knowing I was still in possession of the title on the old car. It was still mine at that point. The real reason is because the police report says I was asleep at the time of the theft, but I said I was awake. (Which I was!) This simple error is causing all the problems and it may be enough to prevent the company from paying...

...and someone asked earlier who I am with.... MetLife. (The second highest ranking insurance company for customer satisfaction... Ironic, don't you think?)

Very! I have progressive and they couldn't have sent my check(s) out fast enough when my previous car was totaled. And that just sucks that they won't give you whats yours.

Get one of the finger print/ iris scanning security systems for your car.

The only downside is that the car theif might be tempted to chop/ cut out your fingers (or eyeball). >_<

Haha. I used to be head of product marketing for a biometrics company - the one that does those fingerprint locks. It's still so full of holes.... there's plenty of ways to beat those things.

Like... cutting the driver's fingers off? (yikes~!)

yeah, but its still an insurance company. Second highest in customer satisfaction just means they are just a little less bad than the rest of the companies....either that or they threaten to break knee caps if you dont plan on being satisfied (boom07)

I couldn't agree more EvilMonkey. Their job is to not pay me if they can help it. I think they all pretty much suck in one way or another. I went with MetLife because I get a 25% company discount... It made them way cheaper than most.

Some devices are actually equipped to detect live skin cells that would not be present if it was from a lifeless finger (the finger 'dies' after about 10 minutes).

But I know ours at one point had a horrible success rate. Sometimes it would accept other people's fingers, and deny the correct ones. You can also take silly puddy to a finger and it would work - if it just detects the unique points in the ridges and not live skin cells.

Wow, what a douche. I hope this guy gets what's coming to him. Have the cops tried to fingerprint the car? I doubt this guy thought ahead and used gloves.

Jeez, people suck. The least he could have done is got it chopped after all that...

+1 have it finger printed....... I bet the kid who stole it is in the system...... if he's into stealing cars he should AT THE VERY LEAST have a juvenile record.

oh btw an easy way to beat the stupid biometric finger print system is because people tend to never wipe them down after using them...... so basically their finger print is still there if you "dust" it and then you can use something (not saying) to push down and use the "finger print" you dusted... so remember, if you have a biometric anything (like some of the laptops) make sure you wipe it clean ;)

Well I did get some good news today. At least the insurance company has agree to pay for the damages. After a long and taped interview with the investigator and 2 more weeks of waiting, they authorized me to take it to a body shop. Now, in about 3-4 more weeks, I will be selling it. At this point, I just want to put this behind me, despite the 4K loss I am about to take.
