I understand your point, but if I was going for American muscle, I could get a used Vette or Mustang for for the same price as a new GTO. (2006) Again, the engine is great in the GTO, I just find the styling to be horrible. It is the worst looking muscle car made in that 10 years. IMHO....

Yeah...the Aussie version is very sweet.

I know, I know.........cheaper is usually better but....... how many vettes (and especially mustangs) do you see on the road?

Around here there are A LOT........ while there are some GTOs there aren't that many, so I'd go the GTO route, of course if I could find a junker to fix up then I'd DEFINITELY go the 454 Chevelle SS route (thumb)

To me it's not the money aspect of the car it's the "me too" aspect....... like "what kind of car do you have?"

"I have a honda civic"

"oh damn me too!!"

lol, so I'd rather just have a not so popular car, plus it'll be a couple years from now anyway, so I'll buy a used GTO.

I think you're being a little harsh on the looks. Its understated sure but its far from ugly. The pontiac grand am, that was ugly. The Monaro does look better but the GTO has clean lines and a handsome shape. Besides as much as I like the MS3 I don't think its a great looking car. But I'd still like one.

There is no way I'd take a Stang over a goat. The Stangs not bad but with the goat you get 100hp more for not much more cash, a nicer interior and not everyone has a GTO while the Stang (while a very cool car) are as common as Honda Civics where I like.

The Vette would be fast and handle better than the GTO but the GTO is more liveable day to day and much more low key. It all depends what you're looking for.

thats what I'm saying.

BTW 454 Chevelle FTW!

On a lighter note, My now wife then girlfriend used to own a chevy nova......an 88 chevy nova!(hand) When you lifted the hood the motor said toyota. But man was that car ever dependable.

Just when my luck couldn't get any worse...they found my car after 40 days.
I have no idea what condition she is in, but from what the impound lot says, it looks fine from the outside. That said, the odds she will go down as totaled are slim. What does this mean? That's right --- the insurance company will fix whatever might be wrong with her, and then I am going to be stuck with two cars. Yes...I will have two "brand new" True Red, MS3 Sports. I am going to have to sell one, and I am going to likely get screwed on the price.

Some days....you just want to stay in bed all day -- or climb the nearest tower and... well you get the point.

Oh no! Wouldn't the insurance company be responsible for getting rid of the stolen car since the 30 day time period has passed?

Unfortunately no. I had a lawyer on this since the 30 day mark and basically, the insurance company has about 90 days (that is approximate) to close your claim before the lawyers would even bother to get involved. So...since they only pay (depending on your coverage) 30 days worth of a rental car, you are on your own from there. So...it was either rent a car out of pocket, or get a new car. I took a risk that after 30 days they wouldn't find it before closing the claim, and I lost that gamble.

:( well, poo on that...

Here's wishing you find a buyer for the car you wish to sell zippy quick and that they pay your asking price!

so now u have to pay for 2 cars? thats bulls*** u cna get a lawyer on this for sure....were u supposed to assume the car would be found and pay MONTHS of rental until it is found..start calling law firms and im sure u can get the contract voided..the dealer can resell the car and u have to settle things with the bank...do it with a lawyer..ull get s*** done

the insurance company gave u check check right since the car was STOLEn and it is well over 30 days of being gone...so u can assume that the loan on that car is no longer existant right?

I have a lawyer...who deals with insurance claims. He told me there is nothing I can do. Since the insurance company never took possession of the title / lien release, I am stuck with it.

Nope...unfortunately, that is not how it works. As I stated in previous post, the insurance companies start the claim process after 30 days. Since the car was found before they closed it, I am stuck with the car now.

but do u have to make payments on both cars?

No...because my other car was paid off...however, I have payments on my new one. I will obviously have to sell one of them, and there is where I take my big loss. There is NO WAY I will get what I paid for on either of the cars. I am likely to loose between $4000 - $5000 before this is all said and done between lost property, deductibles, non-reimbursable expenses, and trade-in on my car....

do you have to pay back the insurance company for the check they cut you for the new one?

I really don't feel like reading this whole thread. So for all those as lazy as I, you have two cars now? And you have to pay for both of them or what's the final situation??

ah, i thought you bought the new one w/ insurance money..so whatevery you can sell it for goes towards paying for the new one i suppose?
