Alright, first off, no Honda hating allowed! ;)

It's a 1993 Honda Del Sol S (Automatic) with a 1.5 Liter 4cyl. It's not fast, and was bought with that in mind.

I found this car for my 16 year old sister, and bought it a few months ago for $1,700.00. It had 142,000 miles, 13 inch steel wheels, green painted dash (puke), dent in hood and front cap, and the brake rotors needed turning.

This is the finished product two months later. I replaced the timing belt, water pump, Valve cover gasket, Both CV-joints, tranny fluid, painted the dash back to black, bought a new hood...painted it and the front cap, got some wheels off ebay w/newer BFG's, totally rebuilt the brakes, replaced the fuel filter, cap/rotor/wires/plugs/air filter, added 4 new Kenwood speakers,Head unit, and new antenna.

In all I spent right at $3,000 total for the car and all the work I did on it myself. It was worth it though when she got the car! She was excited as hell, and I think she has been driving the damn thing for about 3 days straight now.. lol. Anyways, I just thought I would share. She was always talking about these and Miatas, but I couldn't find a miata in a auto like she wanted. At any rate, Here's the one pic I had time to take before she jumped in the car and took off! :) What do you guys think?

The world needs to have more brothers like fastdrvr23 around...Getting your first car is an incredible experience for most...you just made it an unforgettable one for your sister.

Great job (thumb)

Before I baught my P5 I was considering the a DelSol. My friend was selling it..........

Good job, cute car, and the price seemed allright too.

Thanks for all the kind words you guys! I enjoyed working on the car, even though it took me about 2 months to finish it. ;) She has been working part time after school, and didn't think she would be able to afford one, so I figured it would be fun to help her out. I can't believe how excited she was... that afternoon there were about a dozen of her friends over at my parents looking at it. It was worth all the work I did the minute she saw the car. It was priceless. Anyways, thanks again for all the comments!

That's a nice looking Del Sol! I've never really been one to bash Honda cars....I mean no one can argue that they make very reliable, good quality vehicles. I'd take a Honda over a domestic any day!

Holy guacamole nice turn out for that car. I think the two pictures have different wheels because he swapped them from BEFORE and AFTER pictures with new wheels.

I need a big brother who'd be so generous. I only have sisters.... :'(

Yep...
I found a set of Alloys(2nd pic) off of a 96 Del Sol on Ebay for cheap so I got those to replace the 13inch steelies that are shown in the first pic. All the vents, area around the gauge cluster, and parking brake/shifter are all painted bright green in the first pic too, but you can't tell from that angle. I'll look for the other pics I have when I get home later... I took some when changing the timing belt too If I remember correctly.
