my gauges

I just got my gauges in the mail. They are reverse euro gauges that glow blue or green. I am reluctant to install these from what I have heard, but I have a few questions. I heard that there is a way to do it without taking off the needles, but I'm not sure if that was just on a specific set of gauges. Anyone know about this? I'm also looking for any tips someone has on safely installing these gauges without breaking anything. Heres some pics. Also, where do you think I should mount the controller in the last pic. It has two screws on top of it.

i had to cut my gagues when i did mine. so i wouldnt break the needles. from what i have heard the new ones should slip rite one. since the hole is bigger. and the switch, mount it over by the dimmer on the lower left side of the dash. but if you are really hesitant. use an xacto knife and make a small cut in the gagues to slip them over. peace

that sounds like one hell of an idea! I appreciate the reply. I would rather risk breaking a $25 guage set than a $300 cluster. If I do this...Will the replacement gauges still work and look fine? and...What is the procedure for this? Do I take out the screws that hold the gauges in and not the needles or what?

BTW it is 99 LX protege auto trans.

Hey,

I want a set of these gauges...where did you get them from? Also, do the wires run from the top of the gauge or the side of the gauge?

Got a good deal on em off ebay. $25 shipped. Look at the first pic..they come from the side of each gauge.

i have went thrrew 2 sets of gauges and i have the same reverse gauges as you i just broke the temp gauge the last time so bought a s-7 temp gauge and installed so be carefull when putting these gauges in and take your time or you will break the needles, you cant take them off.

hey it looks like the same company that makes those gauges makes my mazdaspeed replicas from corksport. I still have them sitting in my room becuase last time i tried to put them i broke the temp needle. Good thing my car is still under warranty. So now i need to now how u prperly put them on becuase im scared to do it myself.

I am going to try to take the screws off, slip the new gauges over the needles (without taking them off) and put the screws back in. This process won't risk breaking the needles will it?

here are the instructions I got to install the gauges. It looks like you don't even need to take off the needles!

It does not go into much detail so I was hoping maybe you guys could help. On steps 5 & 6, how exactly do you ground the wire and tap the wire? Also, where should I look for the parking lights? I want to know how to do this before I attempt it.

Where exactly can I mount it? Are there two holes already drilled somewhere? I looked by the dimmer and there was no place...unless you can remove those switches (3 of em are useless anyway) How do you take out that piece?
