- 2004 Mazda 3 Hatchback
I just purchased my first Mazda! I just picked up a 04 Mazda 3 hatchback. I was looking for a commuter car to replace my Toyota Tercel. I must say that while I was looking, the 3 hatch wasn't even on my radar. I was looking for a 5 speed hatchback vehicle that got decent mileage. I didn't like the Focus, so I was looking at a stock Civic hatch, Toyota Matrix, or a VW GTI. I soon found out that every kid racer out there wanted the same thing and all I found was a lot of abused cars.
One day searching Craigslist, a Mazda 3 hatchback popped up, so I went to check it out. I must say that I was very impressed with the way it drove and felt. It had the handling with a quiet and comfortable interior of the GTI, but the mileage and reliability of the Toyota / Civic. I have had it a week now and I am very impressed with this car. The next step is to learn what are the quirks of the car. The guy that I bought it from mentioned that the passenger motor mount has an issue (new one on the car) and I noticed the very thin and torn carpet. So any tips, tricks and advise are appreciated. Keep in mind that I am an older guy that is just looking for a reliable commuter car with some fun on a mountain road once in a while. (drive2) Hey, I am not dead yet! (smoke)
