what kinda noise does it make? does it try to click over? is your battery dead? maybe an alternator issue?

If you want to know how to fix it..pick up that book they sell at the bookstore...I forget the name, but it has a whole bunch of letters and words in it, and there are some on the front too..There are pictures in it also, so look for that.

Did you put Winter air in your all season radials(dunno)

YOu at southern methodist in Dallas? you're in luck if you are, a lot of us down here.

Check the gas if it seems more then empty, then its possibly your battery.

Welcome to the forums. It helps to give as much detail as possible if you want people to diagnose your car problems over the internet. It's like calling your doctor on the phone and telling him "I don't feel right", then expecting him to know what is wrong. What happens or what do you hear when you try to start it? How did it die on you?

Do the interior lights, radio etc work? Are you able to crank the starter? If not remove your battery and replace with your neighbors to see if it is the problem. Look for any signs of corrosion on the battery cables and terminals.

if it turns but doesnt start do a visual inspection of the engine bay.check oil level. Make sure any plugs you see are connected firmly. Remove your spark plug wires, pull and inspect your spark plugs. if that doesnt work get a manual from a car store or go to a mechanic.

Assuming that you have gas, and that it tries to turn over, you probably have a blown fuse. If you find it and replace it, and it blows again, report back.

I have seen this probalem several times before. It is quite possibly a blown O2 heater shorting out the circuit. Good luck and PM me if you need any further assistance.

i'm having the same problem.....95 protege lx 1.8L 5 spd....
Tested the battery, it's fine.(took to a shop to test)

When i try to start it, i hear one click sound and then a hissing sound while holding it in the crank position. It's not cranking or doing anything.

any ideas?

Where would this fuse be?

Well Not sure about the 95 Protege, but the fuses are usally down by the feet on the drivers side or under the hood near the battery, usually in a case. I responded to your email... That doesn't sound good. Usually with a blown fuse it would still crank... It almost sounds like a starter. Wish I was in your area, I could pop over and see for myself.
