My Engine Rebuild Gallery

Right, but there has been wear on your current bearings. If you put them in in their current condition, it won't be the best seal and fit possible. You have new rods, use new crankshaft bearings please!:)

always and i repeat always change the rod bearings when installing new rods. different wear patterns wont allow a safe clearance. please dont make the mistake of not changing them:(

I read ya load and clear! Don't worry I haven't done anything yet, that's why I was asking. And good thing I did I guess! Ok, how much our we talking about here, can't be more than a hundred right???

Linux, thanks for those awesome pics. I'm learning so much about cars now ... Am I seeing things - those stock front and rear engine mounts look really bent out of shape! If we turbo our non-mazdaspeed proteges I guess it's a good idea to replace the mounts too, huh?

Always here to help. If you can deal with the extra vibration of the AWR mounts, then you will be fine. I remember I couldn't accellerate good from a stop because the damn engine would shake so much. Now I know why.

afrey i got so wrapped up today with flowing the MAF that i didnt go. but tommorow it is my first priority :D

Are you gonna hit the dealer or what? They'll probably stick it too you. But where else would you get them?

i have an account with my local mazda dealer but is only another 10% off. nothting you can do about it. plus the gasket set and bearing set are really not that expensive. ill let you know today

Ok, I get 10% off, but only cause I talked to the sales guy for way too long when all I needed was wiper blades. Now everytime I get anything he gives me his employee disc. Hey thanks for mentioning the gaskets, forgot about that for a sec, also I need to do something about the ignition, I'll try to call Nology tomorrow, if time allows. I'm in the formal wear buisness and prom is now, which means I don't get a chance to sit down. I'll try to call first thing in the morning.

hey linux looking good, looks like your working alittle faster then i am. but thats good, i want to know what your going to do about the tranny. Ive been putting that off.

Afrey, hey i used to live in Millbrae, CA right near San Hoser, to bad i dont live there anymore we could see eachothers cars.

:D

well here is a pic of my j-spec motor before the engine build. hopefully ill get updated pics of my engine progress.

You have the FS-ZE? I see you have the drive/flex plate for the automatic transmission. Is your car automatic or manual? I had the same thing, and they just replaced the clutch and the flywheel, and everything bolted right to my manual transmission.

yeah its a FS-ZE but from japan. if you could see the intake manifold is different from our stock engine. I really didnt like the stock one, with that prechamber with the butterfly valves. So i got lucky that its different in japan. As for the flywheel, its from an automatic, but im going to put my stock one on it, no big deal.

as for the compression drop its going to be at 8.5:1, I havent heard from my builder in a week, i better call him today, and see whats going on. The last time i talked to him he said he was deciding on if he should take molds of the combustion chambers.
