My Dream: Beating a Mustang GT

i really want to mod my MSP, i really do.
my problem is that it's been to the dealer so many times for warranty work that i'm scared to touch it. i fear they may call me out on it.
i'm dyin' to boost it.

I'd leave it alone and just drive it if you need it as a reliable daily driver with a warranty- don't do anything to it until you are ready to make the decision to risk losing your warranty. I know a lot of people will say "screw that, just pull everything off and bring it back"- but there is still a risk involved and if you need to rely on the car and are not ready to pay to repair it if you blow it up, it isn't worth messing with. The car is nice how it is and you have your mustang for when you need speed :).

on the 3 runs I did I ran it differently.... ran right around 9-9.25 psi (i still dont have my numbers exact on the blitz tt ---> psi conversion hehe) on the run that got 182.

Damn, I was going to say 9 psi, but since a lot of people run more without knowing what they are doing and make less power, I didn't want to offend you if that was your case :).. That is pretty much right on the money with what it should be for that psi. Talk to you later- going to bed now!!!

the untapped potential of the MSP is really appealling.
i know there are big numbers to be had from this car. my question is..... at what expense??
since there aren't that many out there, when u here one making good numbers, you wanna run out and buy stuff.
but how practical is driving on the street with 116 octane??

btw, i'm have the same situation with my M3, i want to mod it , but it's such a wonderful car, why touch it ??

Driving at a stock boost level with 116 is more or less pointless.

Actually, it will probably slow the car down- high octane fuels make less power- but allow for more timing/boost/compression which in turn will make more :)..

I don't think he was asking about running 116 everyday for power- he was stating that he wants to mod the hell out of his car, but running high boost on 116 all the time isn't practical :).

My friend has a 2003 GT 5sp completely stock. His best run was a 14.09 @99mph. His previous car was a '97 Cobra which ran a 13.8 with just exhaust and moderate wheel spin. Before that he had a '96 Trans Am which ran a 14.00 with only flowmasters. Oh, and he is an excellent driver.

On a side note: I just picked up my Lazer BLue MSP last night. I love it. I almost bought an SRT-4, fast!, but built like crap! and the interior sucks!!

My previous car was a '95 GS-R, intake, exhaust, short shifter, nothing crazy, but I won (and lost) many races with it. Smoked my friends '03 GTI Turbo. He didnt have a chance, those cars suck!

I've been reading the posts trying to learn more about my MSP.

This forum rocks! Thanks for all the info!

I was big into mustangs for about ten years. A stock 99-03 GT runs 0-60 in 5seconds and 14.0 flat at 99mph. A modded MSP
can do it at the track where they can run thru the 1/4 faster trap speed than the mustang. Around town a mustang is deadly in a
street race from stop light to stop light. the reason they are so
is because a stock 95 GT 5speed makes 95 whp at 750rpm!!!
IF you don,t think its true check back issuses of muscle mustang and fast fords.

watch out for the goon in the mustang (me) I would ride around town in 2nd gear at about 30mph when the guy in next lane wants to run from a roll you press the clutch in tach it to 5,000
dump the clutch and say bye bye

that trick works just as easy with our MSP
catch em from a roll in 2nd gear and they will be stunned
how quick you will be .

a mustang and our MSP share something in common
if they are not launched just right they will do 1 of 2 things
BOG OFF THE LINE OR SPIN THE TIRES.

hehe me neither ! i just ordered my mbc/fcd/fpr today along with my ngk bkr7e spark plugs and boost gauge ! haha when i install everything, i'm gonna take pics and the last one will be of the angry face of the driver in the mustang next to me and the fat grin on my face :D <- like that haha
