it was a trade in for a truck. He was in the service. Other than that I have no idea. I am assuming that the dealership wouldnt swap forged internals in for me if i provided them over the stock parts?
Try asking...

Maybe Mazda should have had more engines for options avalible with the MSP. So you buy the car and you get two spare engines delivered to your house. I have said it a million times, The people on the board saying that there car is running fine with more boost will experience the bad feeling of the motor going south. I was one of them. JUST WAIT!!! Every time someone posts that the engine goes south, someone else alway posts how good their runs. JUST WAIT all of these cars will blow up.

Yes, but that is just not practical. Just swap them yourself after.

What kind of rods/pistons do you reccommend. I thought it was like 1400.00 for the Hiboost stuff? Where did you get yours from? MAM? Do I really need ARP studs? If i could get the forged stuff for 1200, and the dealer would install it I would place my order right now. They are going to call me back later today with what they belive to be wrong with the car.

I'll keep you updated.

mazda just called they are voiding my warrenty b/c the guy who owned the car before me put a cold air intake on it and that supposidly caused the rod to crack??? WHAT KIND OF bulls*** IS THIS? The guy was trying to convince me that the added combustion with a 5hp increase caused failure of the rod or the piston breaking.

Who can i talk to above the assholes at my dealer. This is bulls***.

Man, that really sucks. I would call Mazda and complain and also speak with the GM of the dealership that sold you the car- they sold you a car with a warranty and then try to tell you it is void since it was already modded- they never should have sold it if they "know" that will cause failure. I would go after the sales and service departments at the same time until one of them gets the issue resolved. Also, tell them that you need proof in writing that the CAI caused rod failure and a thorough description of how and why so you can give it to your lawyer. That'll get em :). Legally they have to show proof in writing of how and why it caused the failure and they have to provide it. Lol, 5 hp caused it to blow- these cars vary by more than 5 hp with different temps, climates, etc.- that means stock they can just blow due to good weather. What a ******* dipshit your dealer is.

Joe

They HAVE TO PROOVE IN WRITING, that a CAI cause a rod to break. They cant, because that is impossible. Talk to the regional Service rep, he is the one who gives the Yay or Nay for voiding warranty.

If you need to, mention that the same thing happened to a friend who writes for B-Scene/HCI magazine and HIS issue was resolved without any issue. (yes that was me, and it is funny that someone like me gets my s*** fixed, but your denied for the same thing)

On top of that, like Joe said, if they sold you the car WITH the intake on it, then they become liable for any issues caused by the intake (which is total bulls***, they are trying to get one by you.)

Ecactly :). That is why I told him to ask for it- clal their bluff. Scumbags..
Joe

i say go after the sales department first, they cant blame u for something that the other owner did. and with a new owner the warranty cant be voided

well there is no intake on it, but they say there was one installed at one point in time. I called mazda and talked to them, they called the dealership and told me the same thing. My dealer said "they have seen 4 MSPs w/ broken rods due to cold air intakes" Only problem with that is that there are only 3 MSPs in town including my own.

They wouldnt let me speak to the regional rep, they said they could only talk to them. What kind of lawyer do i need? Any specialties?

That is exactly what i said! I'm gonna go over there and raise a little hell. It just sucks because i live in Nebraksa, and the dealer i bought it from is in Georgia. DAHHHHHHHH. Please keep providing me help.

One more thing. The service managers "worse case scenario" for me w/my voided warrenty was 6300.00 for a new short block, head, seals, and labor. **** THAT. If i wanted to spend 22k on a car i would've bought a 350z or and evo.

Maybe the new ad campaign for the MSP should be; Mazdaspeed Protege, corners like a kart, explodes like dynomite!

dude just raise some hell, thats the biggest bull s*** ive ever heard. With a CAI, the turbo still heats the air to extreme temps and the crappy little intercooler didnt cool it off too much i bet... fight that crap

MAM, the Studs are much stronger and because you are spending $1200.00+ why not spend $120.00 and get the studs when the ****** is open. Money well spent.

The Techs at Mazda should be able to handle this, however they will charge you more. If they were just to replace the motor complete, it would require alot less time than if they were to take that engine apart and then rebuild it and then put it in your car...

BS Yes. Perhaps your dealer is an asshole... You might have to rebuild it yourself.

I got an entire engine for $900.00 CDN a month ago, and then some forged parts on the way...

Don't settle for the Mazda Price. Do it youself at another garage/speedshop. It's not that hard if you have a good understanding of how it works and have some help from a person near you who knows about cars.

Mine is in my basement as we speek and I'm not even a Machanic by trade, I'm a tank driver...

Visit my boom thread for info on what sort of things you might need.

There are actually several rebuilds on the go now....

Talk with Beau at MAM, he can set you up so it won't blow ever again.
