Though I could only find evidence for a bill in Missouri and Arizona, there are exemptions to emmissions testing.

Collectible vehicles would be required to carry collectible or classic automobile insurance to qualify for the emissions inspection exemption and cannot be used as daily drivers. You could try actually making a statement about the cars emissions requirements, like "the mazdaspeed is not considered a limited production vehicle by emissions standards and so it isnt exempt" or something like that, instead of "your wrong, i wont say why but you are"

Educate me man, dont just say im wrong.

My roommate has an '02 EX with the perimeter alarm and it is rediculously sensitive. You look at that car cross-eyed and that alarm cries bloody murder. I hope they tone back the sensitivity for the MSP or I'll never set it. What use is an alarm that is alarmed for no reason?

I agree with this, it does go off easy, but I am having it taken out and have my Kings Gun, two-way alarm installed.

Anyway, car manufacturers have a number of rules to comply with when selling cars in North America. There are rules that every car must adhere to (like cruch zones, seatbelts, emissions) and then rules that are averaged across all the cars a company sells (like fuel economy.) How does all this apply to a limited production car like the Mazdaspeed Protege? First off, the key here is that it's limited. It will only account for (at most) 4500 cars for 2003 (including 2003.5.) This means it will have a minimal effect to the Corporate Averaged Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard for Mazda. Also, as car companies have to make a certain percentage of low-emissions vehicles (LEV) and ultra low-emissions vehicles (ULEV) (not to mention less common types like zero-emissions vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles), because the Mazdaspeed Protege is so limited, and other cars in the Mazda lineup are more emissions friendly, it can get away with having higher emissions than a regular Protege (which I suspect it does.) Subaru's WRX is a ULEV vehicle, and I believe they went to great lengths to insure that it was, since they believed it would comstitute a large portion of their North American sales.

To sum up: A limited edition car doesn't get any exemptions from laws, but can get away with more due to the many requirements that are averaged across a company.

digi168, try this...does the head unit flip over when the ignition is at the first position? OR does the ignition have to be at the 2nd position where all the electrical components work before it flips over??

radio works in the 1 position, it is a rotating face plate for those that don't know, and it is pretty cool. It is suppose to look like there is no stereo.

rear scuff plate is just plastic no writing on it at all.

Since this is my first post I don't know how much you'll trust what I'm about to write.

Anyways I just got off the phone with my uncle, he's a mechanic at Mazda. He told me that his dealership expects their first msp on Monday Dec 2nd. Since Digi already got his already I believe what my unlce told me is correct! Could this be one of the 6 ready in Canada. Btw I'm from Toronto.

What sucks is, i'm not first inline for the MSP at my dealership. Some dude ordered their's before me! Booooooooo :'(

Same here man i agree with you... I live in wisconsin, I purchased my car last week and they told me it would be here the first week of december..... so i believe you hands down.

Hey Congrats Digi168 on getting your car. I spoke with my dealer yesterday and he told me that I will be getting my car next week guaranteed! He said that the Mazdaspeed has been "officially released" and dealerships should be receiving them within the next week. He said the only way that I would not get my car next week would be if the ferry that ships my car to Vancouver Island sinks. He also took my full address and info to register it in my name so I think that my dealer is telly the truth. Man I can't wait!

Plastic scuff plates!
talk about cheap! a pair of Momo stainless steal scuff plates cost about $50 CAN.

plain plastic scuff plates in the rear?
It's the scuff plate w/o writting?
or is it just those plastic seal cover? (I hope you understand what i'm trying to ask you...so hard to explain)
