My Car Got Hurt Today

Well, I got to work today feelin' good because I have the weekend off.............. that didn't last long. 2hrs into my shift (truck yard) a guy from a maint. company drives THROUGH my gate as it was coming down. To make a long story short, the gate broke off and flew 4ft. and hit my car. The gate scratched and dented the sheet metel above the doors and scratched the drivers window. :'( I took it to a local body shop and the total came to $741.71.cdn (wow) I can't imagine how much it would have cost if there was a lot of damage! It dosen't look like $741.71 worth.
I later spoke to the guys employer and they were told a compleatly different story :wtf: The guy told his boss that "eye contact was made and he was waved through the gate." I asked how this was possible when I was loging the truck before him?
And besides, there was something in front of him! If there was still a truck in front of him, and he was waved through, would he just run through it?

Either way my car will get fixed, even if through insurance, and life will go on.(and without a rate increase, I already asked)

I hate this s***, if you screw up admit it. Don't make excuses, it wont help you in the end.

You should consider strategic parking at work.
Park away from anything that could conceivably hurt your ride.
That includes trees (too much bird poop), really beat up cars
(like they care if they ding you) and high traffic areas.
Trust me, you'll have a lot more peace of mind!

Where I work there are only 4 spots for us to park (i know all the people I work with). 2 infront of the gatehouse and 2 behind, with 2 inbound lanes on one side and 1 outbound on the other. I'm screwed no matter what I do!

Yeah, bad drivers are everywhere. ESPECIALLY IN MY GIRLS CAR. SHE HAS A RALLY RED 03 TIBURON AND IT'S A VERY BRIGHT RED AND I'VE BEEN IN SOOOOO MANY CLOSE CALLS IN HER CAR BECAUSE OF OTHER CARELESS DRIVERS.

No, the streets arn't an option because in the mornings we have truck traffic backed up for 2-3 blocks. My luck it would be hit there too. I guess it's just one of those rare things that happens. If I were dirving a s*** box I would have been in the clear. Just one of those things!

Oh Yeah, I went to Mazda today and got a second quote: $1121.46cad
It suprises me how little damage it takes to cost 1G (dunno)

Be glad that it'd only in CAN$ (canada). In Cali, that would set you back way more. I'm a transplant from T.O., and when I mentioned to the 'rents how much my P5 cost, they practically had a cow. And, I got mine at $200 USD above invoice!
