My Audio Install

tweeter location sounded best in the updated post #4 location.

the crossovers are up under the dash, securely in place, its impossible to take a pic though. sorry.

that's about the same spot I tend to wind up putting tweets when I've run 2-way.

holy crap ryan... amazing. Cant wait for final pics. It is monday.

yeah, believe me, I can't wait for it to be done too... I want the screen in the dash already, and I'd love to have a nice center channel, its just a toss up as to what I'm going to do about that.

everything else is pretty much done... so audio wise, for non-multi channel, sounds the way its going to, minus some more tweeking to get it right for my source unit.

yeah. it came out the best right there. and because its low like that I'm not pulling anything back from the tweets to get the the way I like. Nice and crisp without being anywhere near infinity-like painful. All in all, I'm VERY happy with the way it sounds. Now I need to figure out a good way to not have a big sonic hole in the middle for multi channel audio. I might just end up going with the Alpine and hping for the best. I mean, its not all THAT expensive.

and one more thing. after doing some playing around with it. you can have the bass levels high, and the music cranked up to a nearly painful level in the car with the windows up. then you can get out of the car, shur the door, and barely hear it from 6 feet away... there are ZERO, and I mean NONE! rattles, and all the sound deadening is doing a good job of keeping the audio inside the car.

Crank the windows down, or park with the door open and its a whole different story. those tweeters really do sing with the right music. and the 96Khz of the DVD-Audio tracks is AMAZING!

God..That all looks really good and well thought out and put together.

Props to you!(thumb)

plaining on doing a ems display too? Thatll come along real nicely.

yeah, the AEM has a "base screen" with all the typical display stuff. it'll be on the screen sometimes.

yeah, I think its pretty fast... I don't even have to go serial to USB... so no problems there. I'll snap a screen shot of what it looks like

here is what it looks like...

all stock sensors... save for MAP sensor, and WBO2. I also have to add a GM boost solinoid to make the built in EBC work, of course... but its only like $15

well, I'm going to give the Alpine single DIN center channel a try. I picked it up for roughly $100 on ebay, new.

if it doesn't work out so well then I'll get rid of it, and its only $100, so I can handle that gamble.

I'll let you know how it goes, and ofcourse get pics of it when it comes in.

i love this thread :) im going thru my own audio frenzy right now also. i love to see these types of threads! good luck with everything... haha ill need it too :D

thanks! (thumb)

and for those who want to know.

the enclosures in the door ended up being closer to .2 cubes I found out. and the sub box is 2.7 ft^3 ported with 4 inch ports. tuned to 34 Hz

if I were ever to give a thought to IB, I'd have to seal the entire trunk, which is WAY more work than it sounds like. besides, the W6's sound pretty damn good ported as well as well as sealed (of course). I'll get exact specs of the box, tomorrow when I talk to the builder.

IB sounds a lot harder than it actually is. It's pretty forgiving as well. When I just finished installing it, there was about .1" gap on either end of the baffle... still sounded fantastic. I stuffed weatherstripping in the area, and it's about 99% sealed up. All I did was seal my rear deck using sound deadening, hardboard, caulk, and a shitload of weatherstripping.

soon, I am just waiting on the center channel and the last amp... then it'll be installed.

I promise to post some good pics.

sorta... my car has been sitting for a while now with the turbo install, and me missing a coupe small parts.... I just recieved them a a couple days ago... So now since that install is done I'm soon going to be ready to install the 300/4 and the Alpine center chanel, and bi-amp the fronts.

I just listened to the system yesterday for the first time in a month or so. Sounded so much better than when I was used to it every day. I guess absense makes you appreciate it that much more.

Definitely the case. Kind of like not driving your car for a month, then getting to drive it again it feels so much nicer than before.

With the Dynamat and road noise, where did you notice the biggest difference (doors, trunk, decklid, ...)?
