I just got my 3 last week and wanted to know from you all what muffler is everybody putting on their car? I like Magnaflow and Flowmaster but wanted to get idea's from the forum. Any suggestions. Thanks, and happy mortoring. (drive)

Both my neighbor and I have a Magnaflow on our 3s. He has a round and I have an oval muffler. Different installers. Sounds great, not loud, but just the right amount of tone. a little better performance. I am very satisfied.

It's awesome to hear some good stuff about Magnaflow. I know they have a cat-back in the works, and it should be out "sometime before the end of the year": I'm thinking I'll probably go with them too.

I had a round SS Magnaflow on my ZX2 for 4 years. It sounded great, low and deep. But, not all Magnaflows will sound that good. They make dozens of types and styles so they all can't sound the same. I heard a sound clip of the Magnaflow catback on a MZ3 and I thought it sounded terrible, but thats me. Sounded too much like a Honda.

I have a 40 series flowmaster on my 3 and it sounds great nothing like your typical 4 cyl with exhaust. very deep tone from 1k to 4.5k then it is a little raspy

Thanks for the input. It's probably either gonna be magnaflow, or flowmaster for me I think. I'm leaning towards the cat back from Magnaflow b/c it's just that: a cat-back, but I guess I'll see what develops. I called a guy at Magnaflow a few weeks back & he told me the figures looked like 9-10hp, 8-10 torque. Is this what you can expect with just about any good exhaust?

Check out Borla too. I don't know if they expect to make one, and a cat-back setup from them is quite a bit more expensive, but Borla is supposed to have a better sound than any other.

i got an 18" magnaflow muffler and 3" magnaflow tip on custom piping. its sounds deep at low rpms and it doesnt make much noise at high rpms. i like it.

yeah, a friend of mine had a MZ3 w/a magnaflow muffler pull up to him & he says it sounded real nice. He could hardly wait to tell me about it. I know Borla makes a great product too, but I'm not sure how much I'm willing to shell out on an exhaust system: I'm counting on the cat-back by Magnaflow being pretty reasonable. Great to hear good things about Magnaflow. Thanks!
