MSP vs. S2000

Before I go any further, yes the S2000 won.

OK, let me just say that my MSP is completely stock. With that in mind, I was at a red light the other night and this kid had an S2000 with the top down. I started hearing his engine rev up and down. I didn't look over because I really didn't fee like racing him, because I knew what the outcome would be. But anyway, he didn't take off at a high RPM, so I thoguht what the hell. Through 1st, 2nd, and a little of 3rd, we were even. About half way through 3rd gear, he started pulling. Well at that point I had to get out of the throttle because my lane was ending and had to get behind him. I guess I was not too suprised that I ran that well against him because, like my friends S2000, they need to be beaten pretty hard off the line to get any good 0-60 times. Well, I though I would share rhis story with you guys! Enjoy

:bs:

MAybe 10PSI would have made a difference- :D

These 2 cars you can not even compare. The reason you kept up with him was because he didnt know how to drive or he wasn't on the throtle. My friend's dad owns an s2000. I let him drive my car and he let me drive his. Those cars are crazy. The car redlines at 9000 rpms. You don't need to beat the crap out of it in first to get a good launch, trust me I tried it in his car and all I did was go up to about 4000 rpms. Hands down S2000...all the way.

I would never trade my car for an S2000. Not in my life, I dont car if someone was gonan give me the car, I wouldnt do it. The reason is I am 6'5" I BARELY fit in the car. I cant move my feet to use the clutch or the brake or the accelerator. My feet barely moved while I was driving his car. My head also sticks out above the top of the car. With the top down I have to slightly bend down to fit. The car is still fun to drive in.

xxMSPxx

153 lb-ft of torque @ 7,500 rpm & 240 HP @ 8,300 rpm.... Yeah you do have to beat the crap out of them for the quickest 0-60 time. I don't doubt that "it felt fast" to you, but it is what it is. Launch an S2000 @ 2,000 rpm and you are probably looking @ ~8 sec. 0-60 mph.

Anyone else besides me with more than a test drive experiece with an S2000?

:D

So you took off first and he played catch up? Seems about right for a car about a second quicker. S2000 beats the MSP in all catagories.

Honda S2000

A serious Sports Car (as Autoweek called it - a 4 wheeled motorcycle)

We have 'nice', incredible handling sedans. But; these 2 cars cannot be compared - their 2 completely different classes. The S2000 is a 'very' (9,000 rpm) high-reving Sports Car.

When the S2000 is mentioned; the Porsche Boxter S, and the BMW Z4 are mentioned.

'Nuff Said!

I really do believe that he launched at <3,000 RPM. I really don't care what magazines say! lol All I know is what happened. I bet I could smoke a Ferrari Enzo if a kid who couldn't reach the peddles was at the wheel. LOL - It all comes down to the driver. The kid obviously didn't know how to drive. Again, i didn't beat him, but through 3rd gear I couldn't merge left because his car was in the way...... Happy Motoring to All! :p

why is everybody jumping on formula1 he wasnt comparing his car at all to an s2000 just read again slowly and you will realize he just started a thread to say he kept up with an s2000 till third gear thats it no need for all this car and driver s*** or you cant even compare the two or what not. you guys just like to **** with people and tell them there wrong. WHO CARES! good for you formula for owning a MSP an s2000 is a chicks car anyway! And another thing is either of these cars are 1/4 milers there road course or salom runners you want a 1/4 miler get a mustang.

The reason why everybody is getting "Butthurt" is because they see the THREAD saying MSPvsS2000 not knowing what the Story is all about. I believe Formula1, it will take a lot more RPM's to get the S2000 moving. It ain't no torque monster like the SE-R/SpecV. Every S2000 that i saw raced, "It had to keep the Revs up to 5500-6000rpms, and then it became a beast watching the Car's RWD swerve side to side. BTW I've seen 91-92 civic Hatch's with B16A's and B18C's engine swaps with Major bolt on's beat several S2000's all the time.

I agree with this 100%, I used to have an integra and spending enough time on a honda board you hear all about the s2000. Well suffice to say there not ment for the 1/4 mile at all, there trans can't hold up to what's necessary to drag race, and they really lack low end torque, but get the car moving and throw it into a corner and watch out. I think it's great that he kept up with one through 3rd gear, and I think that with a little uped boost any one of us could probably take one off the line and keep ahead of it, again this is not what the s2000 was ment for, and isn't what the MSP was meant for.

I beat an S2000 all the way to 80 MPH before I was overtaken. He got a bad launch.

That's because most people who own them don't actually know how to launch them. In order to actually have a great launch you have to drop the clutch at about 7-8k rpm's, the trans is good for about the first 3 times of doing that, at about the 4th time on the stock trans your likely to need a new clutch and a couple other things...

My friends S2000 got beat by a Prelude he killed it by like 2 car lengths. They raced twice same results both times.

In 1 week I will challenge any stock s2000, depending on results, possibly a supercharged one to. I have beaten them at interstate speeds and cornering, yes it is possible that they couldn't drive but who knows. I will be dyno testing soon but am pretty sure I am in the mid - high 200's. Our cars have a lot of potential but seem to be fickle when it comes to some mods

List o Mods
J-Spec Intake Cam
Mazdaspeed Exhaust cam
HKS 3" exhaust
INJEN CAI
UR Underdrive pulley
PIVOT Super Earth Ground Kit
JOE's Kits
Royal Purple Oil & Coolant cooler

The Prelude Must of been an new Type-SH with some major Bolt-ons with a 50shot, or it could of been a engine swap with a H22A motor. I know a Type-SH with I/H/E will not beat a S2000 by 2car's.
