How does our car stack up to the SE-R? I have a buddy who talks serious crap about how much better the SE-R is over the MSP. Obviously MSP wins in looks both outside and in. Anyone had any encounters with one? My thoughts are it's a drivers race with the MSP having a bit of an advantage, but I could be wrong...

Se-r giving you trouble? Send him on over....I'll school him for ya.

I will have no problem once he gets his shifting knob crisis in order. Stocker stripped off. (rofl) Nice craftmanship huh? Anyways this guy KNOWS I can out-drive him.

Depends on the driver but generally the SE-R is faster in a straight line. They're pretty close in the curves but the MSP could probably bit it by a C hair.

just for clarification, we're talking about a SpecV, right?

Because a regular 5spd SE-R would get trounced by an MSP ;)

I've taken spec v's while i was totally stock and them having exhaust.

Stock they run 15.4-15.6's in the qtr.

You should have no problem unless he is heavily modded.

Yea, specV. No matter, I was just wondering who would win if it wern't a drivers race. (I will smoke this kid hardcore sometime in the near future as he is stock and I have a couple mods, and could beat him on a go-ped.)

Thats where your wrong! A msp will own a SER anyday in a straight line, curves, and in reverse. I have raced plenty of them when I was stock and beat them even with intake and exhaust. Now they stand no chance doesnt matter what they got done to them. Trust me if you can drive your speed then you can beat him

Don't be so presumptuous man...Maybe you beat mildly modded ones when you were stock but there are plenty of uber fast N/A SpecVs runnin around, not to mention the turboed ones that would definintely put a hurtin on an MSP ;)

Sure.. but not mod for mod they wont. Im just saying its not a drivers race at all. A msp will beat a spec V stock for stock or even lightly modded

If you feel that way, alright, I cant say much as I dont own an MSP, but i have driven both an MSP with MBC running 9lbs and straight thru turboback exhaust, and a SpecV with CAI and header, and the SpecV had just oodles more power all the way through the powerband not to mention a tremendous amount of low end torque.
I think it is more of a drivers race being that both cars run low to mid 15s stock...

and you cant really compare mod of mod being that one car comes turboed stock and the other is N/A...But I will say that if you put the same amount of money into each car, say $3K...the MSP would kill the humble nissan ;)

I know what you mean my friend has a SE-R with intake and exhaust and his car feels really fast since they have lots of torque in them but when you race the two that is not the case

N/A car with more torque feel fast but there not . MSP IS DA FASTEST.....
GIRTH have u raced any spec-v s???? why is it that someone always has to say our car is slower ?????

I generally agree with your statement about srtaight line performance stock for stock...but in the curves the SE-R is a pig plain and simple(headshake

I've owned both. I had a 2002 specV that I traded in for my spec. It is a driver's race hands down. I think the spec is easier to drive for the normal person. You don't have to worry about turbo spool-up and all that. You just put it in gear and step on it. Now that I know how to drive my MSP, it will be a closer race...with me winning of course! I think all the magazines have the MSP slightly faster. It's funny how on this site an MSP never loses to a spec but if you go over to www.thevboard.com, a spec is > MSP.

I owned a 2003 SE-R Spec V for three months (and 12,000 miles), then it got crushed by a tree. I now drive an 2003.5 MSP (13 months, 48,000 miles). Spec V 'felt' faster, MSP is faster. Driver's race, but MSP has the advantage.

I too owned a 03 Spec V and now have the 03.5 MSP. Stock for stock they are fairly equal on the straightline. The Spec seats definately hold you in way better on the corners and the torque is great at any rpm. Up the boost on the MSP and Spec V is left in the dust. :)
