It ain't no Contest! The MAZDASPEED wins! The EVO is uglier than the prettiest Pontiac. Oh; Did I mention nothing is uglier than a Pontiac? And how about that newly designed Sunfire?! What a piece of wolverine s***!! (rofl) Hasn't anyone told GM, since most everything (all Pontiacs) that they make are God-awful s*** boxes, that when they re-design something, it maybe - just maybe, should be more attractive than the previous s*** box??!! (pukey)

no comparison....they're not really in the same league....you're talking a $10k and 100hp difference between the 2. Regardless of what you do to the MSP engine, the tranny will be the weak point. That EVO tranny is said to take upwards of 500hp without blinking. And I have 2 car mags that have the EVO beating the STI in a comparo because the EVO has far superior handling and suspension.

For a $20k car, the MSP is for me....for a $30k car....it's the EVO.

Odd thread... luckily I was able to drive an evo yesterday. The evo is a great car. The one I drove has a catless downpipe and exhaust and ran a 12.47 1/4 last week... so its not all stock. But handling wise the evo is on par with the mazdaspeed. And I liked that alot, that I was compairing the Evo to the Mazdaspeed on handling hoping that the Evo could keep pace with the MSP between the cones.

The evo did very well. Its quite stiff, has amazingly perfect racing seats and this one had power in spades. Steering was nice, but the 2 turns to lock really freaks you out the first time you try to park the car... the car dosn't have the greatest turning radius (not anywhere close to as tight as the MSP) so you'll point it at a parking spot, hit the lock and not be able to turn any farther. Takes a minute to get used to.

All in all handling wise I just love my MSP more, knowing that it can keep pace with an Evo in an autocross is heart warming. Plus my stereo is WAAAAAAY better

yeah, i went and checked out a local one at a dealership yesterday. they had a little sticker right next to the actual window sticker that said "Area market adjustment" then a $5,038 price on top of the $30k sticker. what a ****** joke. i'm going back there and acting like i'm all interested in it and see if they let me drive it. take it for a nice little test drive and be sure to do a clutch dump at 6500rpms with the guy in the seat next to me. might end the test drive but hey, wouldn't it be worth it?

Yes! They are asking about $5,000 over sticker for the EVOs in our area.

They can keep it! Besides; that car is way too ugly to ever sit in my garage. I doubt, I will ever spend that much, anyway. And; if I did, it would be for a 350Z Track Edition.

NO dealers are getting over MSRP for evos now. Maybe the first 50 went for a couple grand over and that was it. Thanks to the strong community on evolutionm mitsubishi learned we weren't going to stand for that crap.

Its because of the orriginal round of dealer gouging that I didn't buy an evo and ended up with the mazdaspeed.

The MSP vs EVO question isn't so far fetched. If all you are talking about is drag and street racing... well yeah, more power always wins. But autocross... I think I can pilot my MSP through the cones faster than the Evo. Its odd to think I have much less understeer (as a totally FWD car) than the evo (as an AWD car)... the MSP is just the better cone killer.

Bah! For that money the RX-8 is the only way to go. Nicer exterior and interior than the 350Z. Better handling. Back seat. Rotary Engine. 9000 rpm redline.
