MSP takes 8th at Toledo Nat'l Tour

so now the arguement is in an srt-4 with a good driver its good in the twisties, but before on this website it has always been the srt4 sucks on turns? am i the only one seeing this?

well, maybe good in the twisties with extra sticky tires and a really, REALLY good driver

The SRT-4 does not suck on turns, but it is not as good as the MSP stock for stock.

SRT-4's still handle pretty damn good though, and with just some minor suspension upgrades WILL handle better than a stock MSP.

this, i agree with! stock vs stock with = drivers, i would give it to the msp. couple hundred into the susp. of an srt-4 with = drivers i would say srt-4.

same couple hundred in a msp and the msp goes right back on top...its too general to compare....the srt-4 was buit for power simply put....all major mags that compared the two came to this conclusion also.....but u can make any car handle good with enough money :) i havent encountered a srt-4 at a local autox yet...but when the day comes ill be happy to see how it does

Think of the SRT-4 vs. MSP argument like this. At buttonwillow a 2004 SRT-4 beat a 2003 Mazdaspeed by .4 seconds around the track. Yeah the SRT-4 won. With nearly 80 more ponies going to those front wheels it eeked out a .4 second faster laptime. It didn't make that .4 in the corners thats for sure.

Now thats stock for stock compairison. Autocross variables, even in the stock class, are pretty diverse. After an autocross alignment is done to the driver's liking, the tires/wheels are changed out and all the little "free" mods are done the car are much different than OEM.

So to say Daddio, driving a hoosier clad, well developed SRT-4 beat out a Yokahama clad "unknown" yellow 2003.5 by 1.5 seconds over two days... I'd say that Larose did a bang up job at that tour because I didn't expect any MSPs in the trophies period, much less one not on hoosiers on that concrete surface. I applaud the MSP driver as much as Daddio for that effort.

The MSP will always be a better handling car though, regardless of who is driving that SRT-4. But 80whp difference in cars is some pretty big time out there that can't be ignored. Thats the strength of the SRT-4 for autocross, plain and simple.

The tires was the only thing? Yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree with this one. Yeahhhh.

Yes, I think same driver (Daddio) driving an SRT-4 over a MSP will win in the Neon. Would it be close? Yes. Any car in DS would be close to his time in the Neon if he were driving any of the cars... also assuming same level of prep(hence.. he's the Alien) However, he knows more about how to drive a neon than an MSP... knowing the mans history. :) He was driving and nationally competitive in a turbo neon a couple years ago, in case you didn't know.

The winner will be Daddio in the Neon. ;) (He won Mazda Rev It Up last year... and he's going back again this year too)

Of course, Keith is leaving out that HE's going back to the Finals again this year too... :D

Gee, I had NO intention of starting another MSP vs. SRT-4 thread! I merely wanted to give David Larose kudos for doing a GREAT job of driving his MSP on Yoks. Had he been on Hoosiers, I think it would have been closer still!!! AND Larose did a great come from behind to beat out Jack Burn's BMW 330ci on Sunday and take the final trophy spot. Once again, GREAT DRIVE David Larose!

LATE BREAKING NEWS: Apparently, the MSP was on HOOSIER A3SO4s and the Yokohama line in the official results is incorrect. Still a good drive, but less upside potential.
