Did Mazda make a mid year engine change?

FYI, the Preferred model in 2025 did come with CD, as a rule. They are a handful of early production Preferred models that do not have CD due to parts supply issues. I know this from research. The Preferred model is the one I was most interested in because of it's incredible value for what is has in features but as the months rolled on it was harder and harder to locate any of these models that had the letter "L" (no CD) as the 8th character in the VIN. Most have the "M" which states that the engine has CD. There is just a few of them left now with the "L". I did further research about Mazda's version of CD compared to other makes and discovered that it is very simplistic and that issues with the system are uncommon. So, that opened the door to higher level trims for me. But to be honest, I'd rather it not have CD.

From what I have seen, non-CD engines have the old engine cover and CD engines have the new engine cover. I too see several minor differences in the engine bay between the two.
Good info ..ya mine definitely doesn’t have it the 8th digit of my VIN is an L and I told the salesman iI CANNOT have it ..but I trust the VIN more lol ..actually I think it was this great forum where I learned to look for that L 😃
