MSP Stock Head Unit Play DVD-R ?

I was wondreing if the stock unit on a MSP will recognize a DVD-R disc?

Yes and it can burn DVD-/+R dual layer as well. You just have to get a bluetooth module for your home PC and park close to your house. Then you send the movies to the head unit, it burns them, then if you want it will play them. The screen is small on the stock HU so I suggest getting an LCD.

Did I also mention the hack converts all the RCA outputs to component video output for tons of monitors all over. It is the s**** man, it rulez d00d lol brb ttyl. !!!!!!111!1!!!

In regards to the original question...

The stock MSP head unit will only read the Compact Disc format. It's kind of like how if you have a computer, you need a DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive to play DVD discs. A standard CD-ROM drive will not work.

Although the discs look the same, the format is different.
