MSP Spark plug options

hey im gonna be putting in some ik20's and yes .32 is what the gap should be. I'll also be picking some of the diesylatic or whatever grease. The plugs are all on top of the engine and should be quite easy to access. We should just get together some day and drop em in.

Sounds good to me. As long as you know what you're doing, 'cause I don't.

Just let me know when you have free time...I work third shift, so I'm always available days during the week. And I'm free every other weekend during the day, so PM me and we'll set something up something.

FYI.
Neither of those Denso plugs are extended reach from what I have read.
Neither are the BKRE's, neither are the BKRE7EIX's.
I just bought a box of the ZFR7F-11's, but I will be running more boost, about 9 or 10 PSI.
I would stay with the stock heat range for stock boost.

EDIT: I picked up a set of ZFR6F-11's yesterday to use while i'm waiting for spring and the boost increase.
I also surfed the NGK site and they say to gap the plugs at 0.44????
I haven't checked the owners manaual but I could swear stock gap was 0.32??

Hi Im running stock P5 with just a short intake and waiting for a header. I am in Canada. Should I use the NGK ZFR7F-11's? Is this too cool for Canada? I want to stay with NGK as I have always used them.
What would be a good gap for a stock motor with header and intake? 32?

I think most of us run 32 or somewhere around that......that's what I run on my MSP. The ZFR7F-11's are probably too cold without boost......if you had a turbo however they would be perfect.

Ok is there a warmer plug like the ZFR7F-11 I should use? Or does it even benefit to use this on my motor? All I read was how good this plug was

Colder plugs are wise for engines that are more likely to detonate. Either Upping the boost or running crappy gas...

Just remember that the higher the # in the plug name the colder the plug. Turbo's like colder plugs. N/A guys will want a hotter plug.

OK, so ive been looking around and havent find a decent answer to this simple question:

What's my best spark plug option for running 8 psi ???

Thx in advance!

I would say stick with the stock heat range, most people on here seem to prefer the Denso Iridium or the NGK BKR7EIX-11's........If you were in a warmer climate, the colder pluge might be worth looking into, but in canada I wouldn't be worried about much detonation at 8psi......I know I noticed some on stock plugs at 9-10psi, but that was in 90-100 degree Texas nasty humid weather, so I run the colder plugs.

Would it be worth upgrading to NGK BKR7EIX-11 (iridium) or me . I live in SE PA.

I live in hot ass Miami florida and im planning on boosting to 9 psi sometime soon with a MBC. I have an Injen CAI, Forge BOV turkey sound, and Perrin 3inch turboback exhaust. What plugs from NGK do you guys suggest? Will Running colder plugs make a difference in performance? Will my car act up or will it misfire?

After trying all the different plug material, I'm sold to Iridiums. We are having a VERY hot (and humid) summer and the only plugs that hold well for me are the NGK ZFR6FIX-11 (peak boost at 8 psi, steady at 7). Coppers didn't hold up. Unfortunatly, they don't make them colder, which is what you want with ur setup and climate. I would look at Iridium from Denso, more precisely the IK 22, which is equivalent to a "7" from NGK and is also pregapped at 0.32

PS: a more efficient intercooler would prolly help more....

FlyinMSP: Which is colder or better , for boosting over 8psi. NGK ZFR6FIX-11 Or Iridium Denso IK 22. Keep in mind that I live in south texas, with very hot weather 95-100 degrees. Also do the NGK ZFR6FIX-11 come pregapped at .32 ??
