aight i was at the track yestuday and there were 2 msp. pretty sad to say but one ran a 16.5. its best was a 16.3 i think. but there was another guy that im friends with that ran a 14.7. he has gutted cats, new muffler, air filter, and disconnected the bov from the charge pipe so its an open air bov. pretty quick. ran my friends is300(auto,intake header,exhaust,19s!and system.) lost to him by car length but it was a good race. im pretty impressed with it but the other guy serious needs some stick lessons or something. a 16.5!???!! just thought u guys would wanna know.

Quick question..is it bad for the BOV to be open like that?

thanks

I thought is was due to the fact our cars use a MAF sensor to meter the air. If air is blown off (to the atmoshpere), the air metered in gets dumped, and the ECU gets confused. I know when I tried this one time, my car ran like s***.

My guess would be that he'd be running rich as hell, since the ECU is thinking that more as is getting to the engine, even though it's escaping through the BOV. Not a good idea...

If you go with an atomspheric BOV in any hot-wired (MAF) car, you do need some type of air-fuel controller to alieviate the problem of rough idle and stall issues (Apexi S-afc works the best for the least)

So if you go with the atmospheric BOV, be ready to invest another 400-500 bones for that controller, or for about 800-1000 smakers, you could get the greddy stand alone or AEMs stand alone system.

well all he did was remove the tube that runs from the bov to the charge pipe. he has a check engine light but thats only cause of the cats i think. other then that i think hes runnin pretty well to do a 14.7. and it actually doesnt sound that bad. its a weird sound though

no theyre not removed, theyre gutted. yes hes running with a check engine light, and yes 14.7 with the stock 17's

16.5?! Damn I ran a 16.1 with my old Hyundai Tiburon.....ya know the car company that OVER-estimated their cars' hp! All the while I honestly though I had 140 stock hp. lol
