MSP getting some more upgrades!!!

Not that anyone really seems to care anymore, but I thought I would update again.:)

The tuning is going good still. I will have some dyno time soon, hopefully next week. I will post the results.

We will be making a heatshield for the MBC bracket that I made, since the solenoid will be sitting right above the exhaust mani. It will be included in the BoostSciences dual stage kits that are coming soon for the msp.

Next round of mods will be: Walbro 255 fuel pump, electronic exhaust cutout, KartBoy shifter bushings, TWM short shifter, and a JL audio 8W7, in that order. Clutch is probably going to give before the end of summer, so I will be upgrading that as well.

As always, I will post my pictures and impressions of everything, hopefully before the end of the month.

oh yea, and since I posted my pics of my yard work here, here is a new pic of my pond:

We care, Rich! Just keep feeding us the info!

Well, I made a little mistake last night.:( My garage had a small fire in it before I moved in here, so I have no lights in there. I had been playing with the vac lines yesterday and I removed my engine cover and set it in the garage. When I went to pull the car in last night, I barely clipped one of the corners of the engine cover with the right front tire, and it is toast.:( So it looks like my next mod will now be a DGM CF engine cover.:) I'm also gonna pick up some of their mirror covers while I'm at it. Hehe, stupid cell phones, I wasn't paying attention.(argh)

Do plan on putting the 8w7 in the stock enclosure? I was under the impression it was way too deep for that, let alone having the stock amp provide the proper power?

Impressive work so far. You are gonna love the TWM/Kartboy combo, that's what I have, it's fantastic. Just remember that unless they have a new offering the TWM won't fit either of the stock MSP knobs. I went ahead and ordered their stainless knob, it's beautiful and feels really good.

The 8W7 will go in a custom (stock like) enclosure, and will be powered by the mono channel on my Xtant 3300.

I am waiting for the msp specific shifter that is coming soon from TWM, I like our stock knob.

Sweet! Can't wait to see it.

Yeah, I guess I was kind of the guinea pig for TWM, I ordered and had an email exhange with them and they thought the stock knob would fit. But when I got the shifter no dice, so he hooked me up with a really sweet deal on an MP3 threaded Stainless knob for my shifter.

Nice man, those stainless knobs are sweet.

haha, it's not as fun when people aren't asking questions or making comments.:)
I can come up with lots of stupid questions if that helps you any :D

You have me thinking seriously about the MPI Tuner sooner rather than later. Keep the feedback/reviews coming.

Off topic...I guess...did you ever settle on a BOV/BPV setup that works well? You are obviously running the SSQV open vent, so are you also running the stock BPV? Just curious.

Oh...YOU DON'T NEED NO STINKING ENGINE COVER!!!

:D

Hehe, ask away man. I enjoy answering.

I don't believe that my opinion of the mpi tuner is going to change much, but I will continue to post updates about it as I tune more. The thing works, and works well. I can add fuel, I can pull fuel, I can advance timing, and I can retard timing. It does everything that you need to do to tune your car.

I switched to a dual BPV setup for awhile, and noticed slight gains from it. I have now gone back to the BOV/BPV setup, because I can tune for the rich shifts now, and because I like the sound of the BOV/BPV best. I will be prototyping a new BOV from BoostSciences in about a month or so, and it will have the abiltiy to run open vent OR recirculated, so I will get to try a couple of new setups then.

Haha, and I like engine covers.:)

How "user-friendly" is the MPI Tuner software? I might be looking to get one before I start college in the fall. What else is needed for this whole ordeal? (a/f, egt, WBo2, etc. ?)
BTW... The pond is looking good. (thumb)

It's super easy to use..basically all you will be doing is plugging in numbers into columns...aka add or subtract!

If you get a wideband..don't bother gettin an a/f or egt..
If your like me and on a tight budget..at a very minimum..get an a/f!

Chas

I am using both WBo2 and EGT with my setup. I think it is good to monitior cylinder temps because you can be running really rich and still detonate if your timing isn't set. With an EGT you can make sure everything is running right.

Hey Rich you mind giving us a rough estimate of how much you've put into the car as far as the MPI and everything else that was necessary to get you where you are now. (tuning wise). If you don't want to post such info send me a pm. I'm thinking of getting a similar setup but funds are kind of low...haha I guess I can pull some CC strings.

Tuning wise, I spent 350 for the injectors, 675 for the mpi tuner, 400 for the wbo2, and 200 for the EGT. Boost and oil pressure were about 300 for both. So just under 2000 for the tuning and monitoring.

Other performance mods were: 900 for FMIC, 900 for exhaust, 200 for intake, and 200 for BOV.

All prices are approximate, but that is about 4000 in performance, not including all of the little odds and ends.
