MSP getting some more upgrades!!!

Hmm interesting. I remember seeing a thread somewhere here that had a way to stop the fan from coming on all the time. Cause with the much improved cooling of that core I would think it would be able to do that.

Like if you had the fan set only to come on when the temp actually got to a high level. Cause perhaps the new core will cool just as good as the old core + fan combo you used to have. Cause I know everyone hates that little hit the car takes when the annoying fan comes on every few minutes. Just an idea though :)

It was finally very hot again today, and I noticed the fan was on a lot. The temp gauge actually did seem to be staying slightly lower than it normally does in the heat though, and I wasn't noticing the lag in power when the fan came on nearly as much as before.

So far so good with this thing, I'm waiting to hear back from SPD racing about getting a fan and shroud assembly.

Ah I remembered those pictures, it looked pertty nice.

Yeah I've always thought of aftermarket coolant systems as being way better. But I wonder what the real Temperature difference would be between them in the same conditions. Is there some kind of rating system that shows how much they cool? I haven't looked into new radiators yet so I have no idea.

On cooling fans there is (CFM rating), but on radiators there is not a standard rating system that I know of. One way to do it yourself would be to get a good water temp gauge and do a before and after test on the dyno.

I guess that would work. But that would be a lot of effort just to justify a purchase. I've only seen like 2-3 aftermarket radiators out there but I bet these is a "best." My bet would be that the difference would be quite small. But like I said I don't know much about aftermarket radiators yet.

You don't really need scientific data to justify the benefits of this radiator. The design alone is superior. It has more surface area, and since it is all aluminum it will disipate heat better than the stock unit.

Yeah I totally agree with you, its obviously better than stock. I guess I kinda meant buying one aftermarket more than the other, the way I worded it didn't make enough sence heh.

Edit: Btw hows ur pond doing?

Great job with the backyard man. With the before and after pictures it looks like X-Zibit visit you backyard and pimped it out.

lol, thanks man. Still needs a few finishing touches. I never got around to building the deck, so that might have to wait until next spring. Overall I am very happy with how it turned out though. The soaker system I just set up is awesome because I don't have to water anything in the whole yard manually anymore.:)

More stuff is here from Mental. God I can't wait to get this stuff in the car:

I've actually been thinking about swapping trannies instead of upgrading the stocker. I am not going to bother untill this one breaks though... then comes the Quaife 6 speed.:D

awsome rich!!!!! what spec clutch did you decide to go with (msp, or reg protege)?

So they have a replacement? That bolts directly to the engine?

I decided to go with the stage 2/3 hybrid, reg protege clutch. I don't see why the msp clutches are so much more, that is why I decided against it. It uses the stage 3 plate and the stage 2 disc. This gives it almost the same capacity for tq as the full on stage 3, but is more streetable.

The PN is SZ943H, if anyone is interested contact mental addiction motorsports or one of the reps on here.
