Well on Monday CustomMSP(Anatoly), myself and a buddy of mine installed my MAM manifold. I got the manifold of of ebay, im not sure if its MAM but i dont know of a lot of places that make manifolds for MSP's and it looks like theirs.
So start off this was an experiance i will never forget. We started off by removing the heat shield, intake and my perrin IC pipe. Following that we removed my fans and removed all of the head bolts. The whole process was kinda simple we didnt use any pb blaster or wd-40 and we didnt strip any bolt studs etc. Once the manifold was off we removed the S-pipe, I was replaceing it with a corksport s-pipe. And we disconected the old manifold from the turbo.
Next we installed the new studs on the new manifold, and installed the cs spipe on the turbo. I originally planed to wrap the manifold with DEI header wrap but i got in the way of the egr pipe bolt which was a pain. Also i couldnt wrap the two middle pipes since they were too close and touching at some points. So the wrap came off. Once the turbo and the new manifold were installed we put the whole thing back. Re filled the coolant since it leaked from the trubo return and feed line.
So after everything was installed and the PITA Perrin IC was put back we stated the car, and had some exhaust leaks. We couldnt really figure out where it was comming from. So we took a drive to advanced auto to get some seafome to we could see where the exhaust was comming from.
THE FUN begins, on our way there everythig was ok driving normally. Once i stepped on it a little and went into boost a couple of times we noticed a few cluncks and bangs not major as we thought. So we parked at AA and got the seafoam and on the way to AA the exhaust got a little louder as did the leak. So start driving back and the car started to sound like a tractor. It would not boost past 1psi. So we come back to anatolys house and we notice that three of the four nuts holding the manifold to the turbo werent even there. We found one of them cracked in half sitting on the turbo.
So off came everythig AGAIN from the IC pipes to the studs, bolts, nuts, coolant, intake. And we had to run to home depot and get new nuts as they were closing up. So we finally put everything back together and lucklly this time on broke nuts.(LOL)(rofl2) .
Well so far the car is fine and i the maifold and turbo and still conected, but i still have a leak in between my s-pipe and DP. I ordered a new gasket for that and hopefully that will be it. The car feels faster and i had to turn the boost down from 10psi to 9 because i was hitting fuel cut.
Here are some pics of the whole thing enjoy. BIG PICS SORRY
