MSP Clutch slow down valve!

OK guys ,you want to see what i'm talking about?Go to a DSM board and they had the same thing in their hydraulic clutch system except for the fact that it was in the slave cylinder! The manufacturers do this to reduce potential damage to the trany from the gys that REALLY DOG THEM!I personally am GREAT on a stick!I think I can shift with the best of them!If only the MSP's have this it might be nice to see a pats list on the different clutch master cylinders to see what proteges had which MC?If all the pro's have the same MC but the speed then you might just be able to swap one out like was said before!I would really like to get to the bottom of this fo I know this will ba a great upgrade for possibly FREE! YES I SAID FREE! just a little time if you are mechanically inclined!I will try to get a blow up of the MSP MC tomorrow so i can disect whats going on inside these things!I will have to compare it to the MP3 and the reg pro though!

Are you guys SURE that check valve is to slow things down on the clutch? MAYBE it's there because there isn't a clutch master cylinder reservoir and that's how it keeps the clutch hydraulic circuit full.

The DSM restrictor is on the SLAVE cylinder, which makes sense. You don't care how fast the clutch disengages, you just want to prevent quick engagement to reduce shock in the driveline. So the restrictor slows the movement of hydraulic fluid OUT of the SLAVE cylinder, which slows down the clutch engagement.

Our check valve is back at the MASTER BRAKE cylinder. Think about it. I don't want anymore Mazdaspeeds ending up in body shops.

Hey MSP pro you might be onto something but i'm not sure?Everyone try this to see what i mean about the clutch disengagement:
1.Put car in neutral(no need for starting the car)
2.Depress clutch pedal fully
3.Dump the clutch(release the clutch as fast as you can ,just pull your foot up and off as fast as you can)
4.Watch the reaction of the pedal!
You should also be able to feel your foot leave the pedal behind!
This is the FIRST car i've ever driven that had the clutch react like this!It releases slow which will do a couple of things if you drive your car hard(OR AT THE TRACK):
1.This slow reaction will produce excessive wear on the clutch if you try to "LAUNCH" the car and when you shift very fast!
2.Will create the possibility of missed FAST 1-2 and 2-3 shifts!

TRYING THIS WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR CAR!

So to all MSP owners ,go try this and let us know what you are feeling!Input will be key!I know that all the MSP's have got to have this prob. So post up what you find after your test.

ONCE AGAIN, the car does not need to be running to do this!
(Don't want anyone popping the clutch while in their garage w/it accidentally in gear and making a new doorway!)

Thanx,Matt:cool:

its not only the MSp that does this . My 01 LX 2.0 also does this. It would be nice to have a quicker engagement of the clutch . Its real fun in the winter when its very cold the clutch pedal pops up when you take your foot of it while shifting .Not the best thing to happen while driving the car .

The master cylinder shares the same fluid that the brakes do (notice the hose connecting them)
MSP Pro you need to do a little research, and you will see that the check valve is in the clutch master cylinder, like I said before there are 4 extra parts in the TC models master cylinder (turbo charged)

see 5-10-7 of the 2003 service manual (Use facts, not I think's)

BUMP!

So has no one tried this test to see what i'm talking about?
If you have what did you see and feel?
Thanx,Matt:D

Kevin: I'd love to have a service manual. I've asked my dealer three times over 3 months how to order it and when is it available. I just get blank looks and no, it isn't available yet.

So, can you tell me if the Mazdaspeed Protege has a different service manual from the standard Protege, or is it just pages added in to the standard, or is it another supplement book to the standard? Turboge guessed it was the standard book with pages added in, but do you know for sure? And does it include the wiring diagrams?

Also, is it available on CD?

Thanks!

Hey MSP pro,you and I both! I would love to get ahold of a service manual for this car.Yo Kev how can we get one?Do we have to walk into the dealership and hold them at gunpoint for one!(getsome)
