MS3 vs. WRX

I was just wondering which car you guys would get. I realize I will get biased opionions but I thought I would ask anyways.

The WRX is about 1-2 grand more so its not a big deal at all. Basically do not factor the price difference into your decision.

They are both very powerful. The key differences are that the WRX has AWD, the MS3 has a nicer interior.

Which do you guys think is more powerful?

Thanks

MS3 all the way....

if it were the sti you were comparing it to, then it would be a little harder to decide.... but the regular wrx, hell no... MS3 ftw

The WRX has 230 hp. the MS3 has 264 HP
The WRX has 235 lbs/tq the MS3 has 280 lbs/tq.
I think the MS3 has a little more power ;)

WRX who?...MS3 no doubt...The STI is a lot more expensive as well...Factor in the price dfference between the STi and the MS3...Take that difference and spend it on MS3 mods...then compare the two cars...I'm sure you would find interesting results!

You can buy a WRX TR right now for 22k and has much amount of aftermarket parts as a civic. But Its pretty ugly. I'd wait next summer for the brand new wrx, I hear its gonna be fantastic and lose the ugly grill.

ms3 has better numbers, but i don't like the way the 5 door looks.

but the 06 wrx has been underrated. cobb's stock dyno on an 06 was 202 whp while my 05 runs about 170 whp. sooo 05 and under with 227 hp put down 170 to the wheels while 06's, which are rated at 230 put down 202. either way. you can't go wrong with either car.

MS3 will have extra MS parts available for even better handling and more power. Putting near STI levels. (or better?)

I understand that the wrx has less power but I believe the 0-60 and 1/4 miles times are still very similar.

The wrx is getting a totally new look? I was not aware of that.

the ms3 will make better numbers stock but if you plan to mod id say go for the wrx. With just a tbe and a tune you can run close to sti numbers and with a few handling mods the wrx will corner like nothing else. With a vf34 turbo upgrade you can run well north of 300awhp on the stock block safely. That makes for a damn quick car 1/4 mile and in the twisties it will be amazing. If you are looking for a kick in the pants from a roll and such tho, the wrx is not for you, its pretty much a slug from a roll stock.

impreza platiform is 6 years old, all new one is debuting at the new york autoshow and coming out in late summer.

I just saw the mazda3 hatchback and it was totally nothing what I expected. I thought that it was a very long station wagon type car but its actually not any longer than the sedan model. I was very impressed and I have changed my opinion on the car.

Having driven the WRX the STi and the MS3, I took delivery of the MS3 last week. Interior and finish leaves the subaru's for dead... in gear torque and acceleration is easily within reach and comes in a nice big surge by 3000rpm.

This car is exceptional for FWD... it still has a couple of FWD traits, but the torque managment from the steering sensors and super LSD work really well.

Not likely, the STi is a $30K car for a reason and the MS3 is a $23-25K car for a reason. Still might get a little dicey for some STi/EVO drivers in a highway roll-on where AWD doesn't matter as much.

The only reason I would get a WRX is if I lived in a place with a lot of snow or rain. Then I MIGHT consider it. Otherwise MS3 all the way.

After driving both cars, all I can say is that stock on stock, the ms3 > wrx. Lets see if the aftermarket can do it justice though.

WRX no question. Not sure what problems there are (if any) with the MS3 but think about how many issues there are with the mazdaspeed its crazy. Mazda still is not good at turbo charging vehicles, when on the other hand Subaru knows what they are doing. Also look at the after market situation. After market gear for Mazda's are ridiculously expensive and although is expending is nowhere near the same level as the MS3. Not even sure how many after market products are out for the MS3. I would go WRX no question. All wheel drive, more reliable, better after market situation.

what problems are you referring to. I have not heard of any problems with the mazdaspeed turbo's. Mazda has been making turbo cars for decades. I am sure the wrx will have a better aftermarket than the ms3, but who cares. You can spend all the money in the world on aftermarket and the wrx will still be ugly.

Ive driven both cars my man. Im pretty sure mazda knows what they are doing. The MS3 owns a stock wrx, hands down. As for mazda not knowing anything about turbocharging, are you forgetting a certain car called the rx-7? I think mazda has a pretty decent idea on how to turbo charge a car.
