MS3 Upgrade?

I am still in disbelief over the prices... Even if you look at the RX-8, the Mazdaspeed catback retails for $750. The Mazda3 Mazdaspeed catback retails for $565.

When I had a Spec V, I put a little over $2500 in NISMO products on it. Yes it was more expensive, but I was willing to pay the 15-20% premium. However, I am certainly not a player when it comes to paying 200-300% premiums for Mazdaspeed parts.

I just think that others like me that were/are willing to spend that 15-20% premium for factory performance parts, will now be lost to the aftermarket when it comes to Mazda. Really, I would have thought that it would have been priced in an area where I would have considered it. Especially since I was in the minority of those Spec V buyers that were buying over $2500 worth of NISMO products.

I can only imagine how small that minority will be now that people like me are out of the market at those prices.

Yeh who keeps putting out that $800 price for the intake??? This is about the 4th thread Ive read that in...........The Mazdaspeed6 CAI on Mazda.com is $375.........They will be practically the same so I would assume the prices should aswell. Not Double

I havent read anything on the MS3 factory upgrader option, seems interesting. We should find out what they do and do it to ours for half the price ;)

As of today you're wrong. Maybe down the road prices when these things stay on the shelf prices will be the same but not now! And the layout of the MS3 and MS6 are very different b/c of the smaller MS3 engine bay. The CAI and exhaust will both be substantially different. Here's some pricing according to a guy on the other forum who claims to have ordered them:

Hey all,

Talked to Mazda today and Mazdaspeed 3 CAI and Exhaust will be available December 15th.

CAI # GRMS-8M-L29 appx $800.00
Exh. # GRMS-8M-L26 appx $1500.00

Already ordered mine...

Joe in RI

Here's another guy who confirmed the CAI pricing:

went by the dealer to check on my car and had a guy run the part numbers. I just didn't believe it was actually 800 bux....and its not.
Its $819

The bad thing about it is that there is no SS availible for the MS3 yet, so it seems you might be getting the price for all the Mazdaspeed parts for the REGULAR Mz3 not the MS3.

Which the prices concur with the current prices in a way, so those parts are not the parts that MS3 owners are looking for, but what Mz3 owners might be looking for if they wanted Mazdaspeed parts.

Go buy the intake that your dealer sells for $350, it wont fit

(poke)

AFAIK the CAI from Mazda also replaces the MAF. That would help explain the price.

Britt

no they are saying the MAF is not included

thats what everyone thought at first because of the houseing but someone that noted the price talked to the dealer and the MAF wasnt included

Time to get CPE CAI for $329 adds 16whp and 20wtq

No need to yell. Check the part no. with the one above and you'll see that it's for the regular 3. There's a whole thread from a guy who bought it and returned it already.

The dealer I bought the car from has told me the intake and exhaust can be purchased for around $1500 plus install. I did not ask for part numbers or any of that so I will call back and find out if it is for the Mazda3 or Speed3.

Hey, Matt, did the slow server response times on the Mazda 3 Forums drive you over here?

Yeah, this is what a number of articles were saying so it must be what Mazdaspeed was saying. It would make a heck of a lot more sense since that would include a substantial premium over aftermarket, but not a ridiculous amount. I'm sure a lot of people would go for the peace of mind at $1500 for both.

pretty much, i actually met some new folks that where on different boards at the "NW Toy Run" so i joined this forum along with another, to branch out for information... (RTM)

Upgrades for MS3

The upgrades will be:
New lighter weight Wheels
Cold Air Intake
Full high flow exhaust(who wants more noise)
Suspension upgrades.
For a total of about 30HP.
That is what I read in a magazine this month.

Yeah, there are good tidbits everywhere. I'm on the MS6 forums, too, even though there are some serious MS3 haters there.

I got an official word from Mazda. The parts are not completed yet. It is going through emmisions testing. The CAI and the exhaust are not 100% completely done.

Damn would they just come out with the go fast goodies already? I need more power!!!!!!!
