I'm new to the whole car/engine thing but I was looking at my engine today and was wandering where the TMIC was pulling the air from. There seems to be a kind of seal on the hood itself, that when closed creates a funnel to which air is pulled through, that funnel leads to a hole in the battery compartment. My question is why there? If the air is being pulled from there, isn't that kind of inefficient? Can't we relocate that funnel to a different spot where less engine(hot) air is being pulled?
I also installed a fujita cai in the car and there's a small hose going from the cai to somewhere below the intercooler also, so am i wrong about the funnel and is this where the air is coming from?
Just a bit confused, any input is appreciated.
