ms3 ordered

Well, because of all the rave reviews and great info I've gotten from this forum, I put a deposit down on a ms3. (cabpatch)

Ordered a Black GT w/navi, auto-dim compass and homelink mirror, and wheel locks.

MSRP is $26,590, got the dealer down to $26,190. Not much of a discount, it's basically getting the mirror, wheel locks, and fees taken care of. I've heard that most people are paying sticker, so I figure any discount is pretty good.

Thoughts? Am I overpaying, or does this seem like a good deal? What's the etiquette here, can I still go to other dealers and let them know what price I'm getting, maybe go back and forth a little?

I think it's a little much but thats just me. I'm sure others who are more knowledgeable will chime in but if I was looking for one, I would looking to pay betweeen 23-24K.

sounds good to me considering you are getting the nav. I say any discount is amazing. 99% are paying msrp and I am sure some are paying over that.
Congrats and when is it coming in.

Thanks! With my options there is no way I was getting it for $23/$24k. It should be coming in late October to mid November (I'm guessing it'll be the latter).

congratulations!
keep us updated on when is scheduled to be delivered and any updates you get.
you lucky dog!

Welcome to the club and congrats to you. For your sake I hope you are not as impatient as myself and a few others.

I want my MS3!!!!!

I just put a deposit today on a Sport(black). It was a hardddd decision since the dealer was trying to sell me a MS6 sport for 23,000. I am paying sticker for the MS3...unfortunately. A limited supply and high demand=no discounts. On the other hand,...they were offering $5500 off the sticker of the MS6. My deliver is scheduled also for mid-late october/early november. In other words..whenever the hell it gets here..lol.
What do you all think? Smart choice choosing the 3 over the 6?

If you want the 3 more then it is a smart choice. Who cares what the original sticker price is. If you got the 6 you would always be thinking about the 3. It is tempting though, I almost bought the 6 as well but I won't do that until I drive both cars.

Very true. Don't get me wrong..I love the MS6..it felt amazing. But it still felt like a 6...a little bit big and heavy. Plus no folding rear seat?! (uhm) What if I want to haul lumber..lol..jk.

what type of financing is available? A few years back, I was able to buy my MSP for around $17k and locked in at a 2.9% rate. That translates into a pretty manageable monthly payment. As nice as this car is, since it appears to be in WRX (a car I've nearly bought a dozen times) it's fair to assume my monthly payment is going to jump at least $100 (probably even more). While it's doable, with only a year left on my loan, it's a bitter pill to swallow.

Test Drove a MS3 what a blast .... Smooth shift exilerating ride. 140 km per hour in 4th and lots of room to pass with EXCELLENT acceleration.

Congrats Mazda on an other great product

I really can't wait to get mine. I am gonna try and be patient, but I know it's pretty much a lost cause.

I will definitely post updates!!

Holy $hit!! 8%??? man... what happened to the good ole' days? guess you have to go dumbestic in order to get a good finance rate. At 8%, with $2k down, I'm looking at a ridiculous $520/month for 60 months... This may be a 'bargain' but for those of us who have mortgages, kids, etc. this is a pretty sizeable expense. (Even if you make decent money) My thinking is, if you're not making saving at least 10% per year... which really is bare minimum, you're basically setting yourself up for disaster) I'm guessing the majority of the people out there who are driving around in even MORE expensive cars with all the crap I just listed... are basically living above their means and are in debt up to their eyeballs. sort of like that commercial with the dude who's mowin his grass... but I digress.

I may have to pull my deposit back... I was hoping there'd be some special finance rates available. While this car is superior to the MSP, I'm not sure it's $255/month superior. That translates into like a 50% increase!!

Why do I have to be a "car guy"? Why can't I be an "antique guy" and buy those instead? At least they don't depreciate like a mofo....

For those of us who undertand money and compound interest... That extra $255/month properly invested can translate into some serious ca-ching years later. This type of thinking really conflicts with my "gotta have the latest/greatest car" mindset. Unfortuneatly, in my old-age, I fear the practical/wise side will prevail....

Ugh.... can't wait to call the dealership tomorrow and cancel my deposit!! Fvckin mazda!! Why can't they have better financing?!! going from 8 to 3% (where I'm at now) would translate into a savings of $60/month. Still not great but... would make this pill easier to swallow. I mean... this car is pretty F'in badass!!

alright... enough babbling. try not to belittle me too much for being a cheap bastard.

auto dimming mirrors... (puke)

I install these all the time, they're ugly and bulky pieces of s****

give it a few months they will be discounting them heavily

Not with only 5000 being made. Please do not pay over MSRP! Out here in So Cal dealers will not be adding any markups. The dealer I am talking to is considering giving me $500 over invoice on a Sport. Three out of the four dealers I have talked to have their inventory reserved until Dec. (total of 15 MS3's).

They made less MSP's (I believe) and we all know what happened with those prices...

Obviously it's a superior car... as it should be! (considering the car is newer by 4 years) It's also a lot more expensive... Considering the MSP came stock with an upgraded stereo, it may not be fair to compare it to the MS3 sport model costing $23k (roughly $3-5k more than the MSP) but it also wouldn't be fair to compare it to the xenon headlights, leater seated, navigation GT model costing $26k either.

I personally feel, all things being relative, that this car may very well suffer the same fate the MSP did. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but... think about it.

When the MSP came out it's main competiton was the SE-R and later, the SRT-4... and others. (The WRX was $3-5k+ higher so that was in a different league) If it hadn't been for the SRT-4, I'd venture to think the rebates and amazing deals may never have come about. Sure, mazda didn't promote this sucker... but the true enthusiasts (like us) didn't need to see it on TV when we could read about it online or in magazines. many like to blame poor promotion but I feel it's the SRT-4. Costing about the same, the crowd that Mazda intended to sell this car to flocked to Dodge dealers and bought the hell out of those POS Without that car, where would they have turned? Spend the extra dough on a WRX? maybe.... but that's a pretty significant bump in price. Go with a car with similar performance, but relatively no exlusivity factored in? sure, SE-Rs would still have sold well but Mazda's limited amount of MSPs would have as well. (at the price they wanted to sell them at mind you... which was a good deal!)

Fast forward a few years and... it's like dejavu all over again. Right on the heels of the MS3 is the SRT. While the gap in performance clearly won't be nearly as wide, the potential for it to be 'wide enough' is there. Before you dogpile that comment... remember that the car hasn't come out yet and nobody has tested it. Sure, it weighs more but... since the MS3 needs 3 gears to get to 60... if Dodge's new SUV can muster that in only 2, it'll best the ever-so-important (to this crowd) 0-60 time and gain an edge. Combine that with the fact that mopar will undoubtely back this sucker the same way they did the previous... with tons of affordable upgrades to maket this thing an even bigger monster than it is... and Mazda may see their sales beign stolen away yet again.

Before anyone discounts what I'm saying by mentioning how fugly the Dodge is (which is subjective) let's not forget the same was true with the msp vs srt. interior not as good? That didn't seem to matter to this crowd either.

It's a strange position to be in... being a fan of Mazda, part of me wants to see them do well with this thing. The other part of me wants to see the opposite occur so that I can get a deal. pretty F'ed up... but hey, you gotta look out for #1

I would love to see the day of 17otd ms3's. I would really be in trouble, that's for sure...
