This may be a total newb question, but I am one so I think it's all good. Could you explain what the S plan is please? Thanks.

Hey, Silla, what's your source of info? Cause different people are hearing different things. One guy has an email just today from Mazda saying it's up to the dealer, another says MS3 is still on the Ford E-Plan site, etc.

Nice, well Silla's a nice looking vehicle to keep driving while you wait. You want don't want to slap a turbo in and do other mods to make her "faster and better handling" than the MS3? We had a long thread about how a modded 3 would/wouldn't be better. Sounds like you're not buying that modded is better, at least not for the money?

Edit: update on the update is that some people have been told that no S-Plan for now may mean just on the first batch, but yes S-Plan on orders for delivery at the end of the year, and still others have been told not until Spring.

This guy works at a Mazda/Subie dealer, but I don't know where it is.

Hey CT, what dealership are you getting yours from? I'm from mass but am buying from Morande mazda in Manchester because of price. Dealer "said" he's giving me msrp on it. Couldn't get a clear price from any dealer in mass.

Modern Mazda in Thomaston. They're a Dodge dealer too which is pretty amusing because I can test drive both the SRT-4 and the Mazdaspeed during the same visit, lol Those sales guys are going to hate each other after these two cars hit the show rooms. The sales guy there mentioned that there wouldnt be a dealer markup on them and said they'd have more than any other dealer in CT. If you search on Mazda's website for mazdaspeed dealers they come up with the most info so I'd have to assume thats true. He tried shoving the Mazdaspeed6 down my throat over the phone with all the incentives and such until I told the dude I needed a hatch and I wouldnt be purchasing until May. He was confident he'd still have some or be able to get them by then so Im not too worried about the 5000 unit limit (no one had issues buying 03-04 Cobra's after the initial rush and those were also a limited run).

Unforunately mine was recently ordered so I won't get the initial shipment. I only put a deposit down so I'm not married to it. So if I find a black mica base somewhere else sooner, then I will go there. :)

Good luck man. I cant wait till you guys get your cars in so we can get some feedback. We already know all the good stuff, I want to know the annoyances with it, lol. What did you end up paying. You mentioned MSRP but you didnt say what options and such your looking for.

I got the GT with nav, as I got it in my CX-7, and it has been so helpful. I also wanted HIDs, too. So I figured I would get everything, because I am greedy, I guess.

As soon as it gets here, I will be working with an aftermarket supplier to develop aftermarket parts for MS3's, so stay tuned!

Only reason I went with the GT model was HID's.
So you like the Nav system? I thought hard about it but then I've never really been lost so... plus there's mapquest before I leave the house.

Seems to be the plan of a few of us. Not sure if I'll be able to drive it more than a week or two before it gets torn down.
Good luck and I hope you get to enjoy it a little before your R & D starts.

yeah, the navigation found us a quicker way through back roads to jacksonville. mapquest has its issues, wrong turns, ilogical directions, so this works best. Turns out, dealers are not even able to install it after purchase, as there is a lot of work to install it, so they had to change the order for one to have nav on it.

Thanks for the well wishes. You can count on feed back from me. The navigation interested me, but a dealer told me I had to get the GT package for the nav to be an option. I would have loved to get the GT package(it's well worth it in my opinon,HID's etc) but if I can save money I will, even if its 2g's. It's gonna be bone stock w/ wheel locks(dealer added). Can't wait for it.

I put a deposit on a black mica GT w/ navi, homelink/compass/autodim mirror, and wheel locks.
MSRP = $26,595
I'm getting it for $26,195. Not a big discount, but I'm happy to get anything off at this point. Can't wait to get it, I thought I was a pretty patient man, but this is really trying me!!!

Yeah the wait killed me. I bailed on my MS3 with 6 weeks to go til delivery and bought a 2006 Mustang GT. Ikea interior but I love the Motor. Anyways, the dealer now has the MS3 I was supposed to get.

Dude you're paying too much for that car. I don't think it's worth paying that much for a turbo FWD car. You can get an EVO IX for like 2-3k more.

If the dealership say the MS3 is not included in the S plan, they're full of it. All the mazda are included in the S plan. It's really up to the dealership if they want to sell it to you or not and all boils down to supplies and demands.

Yes I could get into an EVO IX RS for 2 -3k more, but it's not a fair comparison. If I want HID's, a 6 disc changer, etc, I would have to get the MR, which would run me about $37k sticker. So we're looking at a $10k difference, which is a ton.

Believe me, I looked into all sorts of different cars, but it keeps coming back to the fact that in the GT MS3, I get a sub 6 second 0-60 time, great handling (if the reviews are to be believed), plus I get all the creature comforts that I love for around $26k. If I can get it for cheaper I will, but I don't feel that I would really be overpaying for the car at that price.

There are always going to be people who second-guess other people's deals. The bottom-line is, if you are happy with it, then it is a good deal.

On the nav issue, I bought a Garmin CF Que receiver for my PDA. It doesn't work to well in Thailand, because there isn't a lot of detail on the world maps, but I took it with me to San Diego last January, and used it in my rental car. It was amazing. All I did was plug in the destination, and followed the voice prompts. I probably wouldn't buck up for an OEM nav, but I would definitely have one (Actually, I do, so there you go).

Got my deal straightened out today. Sell MS6 to Carmax in one week and buy Cosmic Blue MS3 Sport to be delivered in 2-3 weeks at $500 off MSRP. I'm gonna miss the MS6's solid AWD takeoffs, classier look, and roomier interior (largely subjective). But I'm looking forward to 400 fewer lbs in the corners and in roll-ons. And, afterall, the MS3 is the car I would have bought first if I'd known it would be out only a year after the MS6.
