MS3 Gas milage?

Gentelman,

I am considering buying a MS3 and was wondering what kind of gas milage do you guys get on the highway driving 65-75mph. I would be using the car to commute to work, therefore it is very importan to me :)... let me know!

I haven't calculated in awhile, but I would say 24-28.
If you strictly want a gas saver, I'd get something sans the turbo.

I average 24 on back road and a little less through town...highway you're probably looking at 26-28 without flooring it too often...

the reason is that i want to buy a car that has some balls also :D... it's going to be my only car so picking out the best power/mpg is my way of thinking :D.... and i'm only inersted in the highway milage...

This is, from my personal standpoint, having friends who drive evo's and sti's, one of the more fuel efficient turo engines; be it that we don't have AWD, possibly, but still. I get around 20-19 zipping around in town, which is all that I ever do in hawaii.. so sad :(

When i'm on the freeway, according to my mpg thingy, I can usually keep it at a ridiculous 32 mpg. I was really surprised. Whether that's computer trickery or real world, I couldn't tell you.

I average 22-23mpg, but I've done full tanks on the highway and hit 27-28mpg.

I've got a ScanGauge, and have calibrated the fuel economy feature. My mileage, with 1900 miles on the car, is a combined city and highway 24 mpg. If I go easy, I can get combined 26, but that means loafing up the twisties, which is very difficult to do. I don't have a good number yet for pure highway driving. My only mod is the MSCAI. Before I put the CAI on, I saw 28 mpg with mostly highway driving.

Since you're interested in performance and economy, I would highly recommend this car. I don't enjoy driving a slow car either......

I have found that if there is no traffic you get better mileage on back roads than you do on the highway. The car runs above 3000 rpms in 6th on the highway which means the turbo is going pretty good. Gas mileage seems best around 1800 rpm. I do about 60/40 highway/city driving and usually get around 21-24mpg. I get this number by manually dividing out the miles I drive and the gallons of fuel used. I wouldn't trust anyone's response if it is based solely on the mileage computer. It consistently reads 3 mpgs too high and last night when I filled up it told me I got 25.5 mpg when in reality I got 21mpg.

Interesting. How did you measure your non-car-computer MPG? Dashhawk?

1) fill up tank and reset trip meter
2) drive around a lot
3) full up tank and read trip meter
4) divide trip meter reading by amount of fuel delivered

The computer estimate on my car is not very accurate but typically off about the same amount.

I have about 1300 miles on my car at this point. The computer is typically about 10% off my real mileage - it is very optimistic.

I drive mostly city but not really inner city stop and go. I am seeing about 23-24 mpg.

I tried this but I didnt use up all the gas before fill up, just a tiny was left according to the gas meter... In this case do we just assume the miles if we actually did use up all the gas?

do you guys know when the trip computer tells you you are at zero gas, how many gallon is ACTUALLY still in the tank?

What you fill up is what you use...

I'm looking at MS3 MPG and insurance figures as well. There's one 40 miles away from me... 2007 GT Silver w/ 6600 miles going for $20k or a brand new Sport for the same price from a dealer selling at invoice.

Any insurance figures folks?

The worst I have seen is 21 and the best is 24 combined highway and city. I usually cruise on the highway 75-80 mph. I floor 2nd through 5th a few times a week. Rarely floor 1st or 6th. Other than that I pretty much baby it. Overall I dont drive for gas milage. I enjoy my car without abusing it. 30 highway is definatly do-able if you cruise at 65-70. Fortunatly my work is 15 miles away each way which I drive there mon-fri. My gas is $80-100 a month.

I think I'm getting around 15-17 MPG.
However, I didn't get this car to pussy foot it. It's my toy

It's simple, you drive slow you get better MPG
you drive fast you get worst MPG

Usually I get 24 mpg or so mainly highly. latelyt hough It's been around 20... I recently got the corksport CBE so maybe I've just been getting on it more. It's weird though because I noticed an increase in mpg while I just installed the DP (got on lots then still). Anything for me to check or reasons it might be going down other than I'm just possibly flooring it more?
