MS3 2008 model confirmed.

Maybe in 08 or 09 they will come out with a MS3 sedan so people who want a fast mazda arent stuck owning a wagon. Boo :(
It's not a wagon - it's a hatch. Look at the domestic Ford Focus for comparison. That car comes in a Sedan, a Hatch, and a Wagon. The wagon and the hatch look vastly different.

The MS3 is a 'hot hatch' - not a wagon.

I must agree with the "hot hatch" and definatly not the W-Word. But this is preference I suppose. You would think Mazda would put out an '08 model, but it is all hear say till you actually see one. I say buy what you need at the moment and dont worry about what could be coming out in a bunch of months or you will always be waiting. Just My Opinion....

It's kinda like buying a Mac. As soon as you buy one, Steve Jobs always gets on stage and announces a new version of your machine that does everything 10,000 times better/faster/prettier.

That would be interesting to see, if they do release an 08 Speed 3 if they only released another 3k-5k in sedan format only, keeping the uniqueness of both years.

This is the response I just got from Mazda:

"Hello XXXXX,

Thanks for contacting Mazda and your interest in a Mazda Pick-up. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

I have no information on when Mazda might have a MAZDASPEED3 in production for the US market. You may wish to visit our website at www.mazdausa.com toward the end of the year to see if there are any in the 2008 models.

Certainly, we want to offer exciting vehicles, and comments such as yours help us to achieve that goal. Since consumer feedback is always very important to Mazda, rest assured I have documented your e-mail for our corporate record. These records are continuously being reviewed by our Product Planning Department in an effort to provide only the highest quality products to our customers.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to reply to this matter.

Regards,

I think I didn't get the brightest customer rep.

Customer service reps are a dime a dozen now adays, when I call mazda I almost always talk to people that have only been there a month or so.

4 doors and a liftback/rear hatch = wagon. Call it what you want, its still a wagon. Maybe not the typical fullsize, but whatever makes your hearts happy. 5 door hatch, hot hatch etc etc, are just trendy new marketing names to sell a wagon. Sorry.

I was just hoping they would make a normal sedan version, not something that "wagon-ish" :)

You sound bitter because there is no sedan version of speed 3 :D
I guess this is just personal taste but i like "wagon" version of 3, look more agressive.

HAHAHA. I am a little bitter there is no sedan option. Def not my choice to get a wagon. I dont care what kinda bodykit you slap on it, i dontt hink it would be more aggressive then a nicely done speed3 sedan. You think a mazdaspeed version of the P5 would have been more aggressive looking then the 03.5 MSP sedan protege? I doubt it (yupnope) LOL :)

and yes i am jealous my mazdaspeed isnt the new hotness anymore.

FWIW, I spoke to Mazdaspeed Motorsports earlier this week and asked about an 08 MS3 and they said no word yet. I certainly hope the rumor in this thread is true but I'm not sure there is an official source from Mazda saying that yet.

And a 4 door family commuter is aggressive?
Doesn't get much more sedate than a sedan imo
Hell, even a lazy-e boy recliner could be more aggressive

Well spoken
Because the EVO 1-9 arent aggressive, neither is the WRX/STi etc etc. Sorry there can be more aggressive sedans then wagons..(mj)

Wagon shmaggon. This car could look like a m"f"in Honda Element and I would still drive it. It's fast as hell and puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. If a car can make me sweat and give me heart arrhythmias, it must be good:)

So I'm assuming that evo/wrx/sti's are aggressive because of their lines and the huge wing?

Well, MS3 has aggressive lines too, and a wing. A "wagon" can be just as aggressive as a sedan, it's only impossible in the minds of those who haven't moved past 1974.

It's all in opinion... But if you really want to get down to it, none of us have aggressive rides unless you're driving around in an F40 or something.

wthe ms3 isn't a wagon

a wagon= a large car with more rear carge area
a hatch= like the ms3,gti, reanult clio, ford focus etc.... there is a huge difference between the wagon and a hacth

An '08 is going to be tempting as hell. I can just smell having twice the horsepower. Hell.... more power than BOTH my current cars combined. (Until I turbo the Miata. :) )

No wagon, Its a htch plain and simple.
According to the requirement stated above the new rabbit is a "wagon" and that isn't true. this is a "hot hatch" make no mistake.

Personally i don't think i would have bought the MS3 if it was a sedan. the sedan is fugly IMO.

they need to bring the color Yellow to the states for the MS3 i'd sport one , if i hadn't already bought the silver version :D

Why all this fuss over a 2008 model, it won't be different except MAYBE color options thats all. Just buy the car and have fun, year later you can color swap and have a better paint job put on the car. One that doesn't chip so easy.

hmm wonder if the 05 mz3 would be a sedan... i know i doubt it too but i was wondering about it after i saw all the space that the 07s have in the hood. It is crazy when i compare it to my 04; it has enough space to put a couple of dead bodies in there... not that i have tried it... or have I...?

Pretty simple actually. The reason that if this was confirmed to wait a month or two for the new one is for resale value. Lets say I order a car now (which I did) and I get a 2007 in May or June. July 1st, they release the 2008's. I now have a car that even though it's only 2 months old or so is now 1 year old (or a year older to a perspective dealer or purchaser when the time comes). That counts against your resale value. That said, the regular 3 hatchbacks tend to hold their value incredibly well as do the Focus ZX3's. Mines worth more with 60k more miles on it then it was when I bought it. Insane.

*these time frames are based on assumptions and rumors, nothing more.

What's wrong with them? Why aren't they selling? Overstock, or what?

Some $6,000 off an MS6 sounds enticing!

They're boring to drive, very heavy, tend to understeer badly when pushed (not like an AWD car is supposed to behave). Mazda also didn't really market them that well. Back in Oct I was offered one for a crazy discount but didn't bite. I drove one and was like "eh."
