went to my Local Mazda dealer today , just to see what they had to offer as far as Springs go for my P5 ... the only thing they had on-hand were

Mazdaspeed Springs for 250

but they also mentioned that we'd HAVE TO get the Gas Shocks for about 560+

1) how do these prices sound

2) do we HAVE TO get the Gas Shocks ?

3) wifey and I are really paranoid about voiding our 6y/100K extended Mazda warranty , so we'd like to get this done by the dealer if possible .... no we're not planning on any engine Mods ATM , just looks ..

thanks in advance for any advice

Hey man, you shouldn't worry about voiding your warranty as they can deny warranty service for a car only if they can prove the modification done to the car was responsible for the failure. i.e. if you break a rod they must honor your warranty because the installation of springs has a negligable effect on the drivetrain

I believe you do have to get the shocks also. I've seen that on aftermarket parts sites also. The springs are tuned to upgraded shocks and if they aren't installed togther it could make the car handle worse, or possibly make it dangerous. It sounds reasonable but I agree it makes for a costly upgrade.

You might first want to try adding a strut bar and stickier tires for low cost handling improvements. Unless you will be autocrossing or live around lots of nice curving roadways.
