MPI vendor selling, no more.

Modern Performance Inc will no longer sell MPI Tuner to other vendors on this forum. Do to the lack of tech support from second party vendors. We will no longer allow the MPI to be sold to members of this forum from other vendors.

1. After over one year of selling the MPI to forum vendors who then resell the units to forum members, but then do not offer any after sales tech support. We have seen this problem take place more then a few times. In the end, it has always a bad time for both the party that got the unit and for Modern Performance. The vendors seem to be more then happy with making the sale but not with the after sales help needed with tuning a car.

2. We have had forum members call and e-mails us looking for ship dates on MPI Tuners that were sold by vendors weeks and months before. Sometimes the vendors did not even place the order. Somethings we were holding the order because the payments were overdue. Sometimes we could not ship because the vendors credit cards were declind. It is a hard tight rope to walk when to try to protect a vendor and at the same time you have a vendors customer pissed off because they have been waiting for a MPI that they have paid for sometimes months before.

3. I have tried talking and working with some vendors to help to got things worked out so the end user did not have to suffer for problems that were not their doing. But I see no other way to make things better. I have yet to see the vendor come to this forum and make any kind of post at all about some of the problems. I have also ask the vendors to send PMs to the pissed off customer so they would know why the have had delays and or problems with tech support. But in the end we cannot let other vendors cause their problems to becomes our problems.
 
Do what you need to do. At least now you will know who has one and be able to provide better support then what they have been getting.
 
Yep... good to see Nick, I'm sure this will help keep the MPI in good standing with peeps.
 
Not surprised...Do what you have to do to make the members/customers of this community happy.

I remember the Perfworks/ Wagner thing? One or two people b**** about problems and no one cared at first because they were "good Guys". Now I see more and more people bitching about not getting refunds or product that has been paid for. People are looking a little bit closer at what is going on. I will not be dragged into that kind of BS again. Good luck.
 
Great decision Nick. I am sure this will end some of the BS people spread about the MPI.

Damn straight. I think people forget how long you have been around and dealign with this community and providing your services. Longer than anyone other than MAYBE Juan. I'm glad you stick around. Your information and experience and products are invaluable to us all, vendors or consumers.

Got the gray hairs to prove it. I have seen from other forums that vendors come and go. Total World Domination never lasts long. After the chips fall and the dust clears who is left standing? We never need to be the biggest, shop is always booked and orders are always shipped, bills are always paid, life is good.

Agreed. I also think this was the correct decision. IMO the MPI is a very good option for engine management in the Protege. One of the parts I never had any problems with when I owned the car.

Yep, I agree as well. Every customer I talk to I explain the DSM, MPI, and the Microtech to. And have referred enough people to go to the MPI or the DSM as well if the Microtech is not the budget and need they have. They all get the job done, and done well!

Come on quit being so modest........the bills are being paid?????? Come on, you're getting more then just the bills paid, a high roller like yourself, living in the Mannarino mansion and all!!!!! (thumb) We all know that's how you got the good hair.....MONEY!!!!!

I had an awesome experience at nicks. especially seein em in the labcoat with his mini fro, hes a mad scientist for sure.

I respect the decision as well. I cant say i blame em.
