MPI got gear.

damn only 10psi thats scary :( I know Azian6er is running 14 and so far no issues (crosses fingers)

I hope to god mine does not blow up :(

ive been running 16-17 for like 6,000miles still havent blown it yet (knocks on wood)maybe i will friday at the track???who knows?

yeah Azian6er is running 14 on his thumper, Pdhaudio83 is running 17 on his 2871R

I am wondering how its going to like 25psi on the 2871R, thats the part that scares me

I will hopefully be doing that 25psi dyno tune over the winter, and then we'll see what happens in the spring but hopfully ill have my trans rebuilt or a new quaife 34g tranny in by then.

yea i'm starting to get scared too... Now my tranny is crunching from 3rd to 4th gear sometimes and i'm allready running redline shockproof in the tranny...

i'm going to be pissed if it blows up.

Just to clarify Keola's 3rd gear blew out while he was running 10psi but he was running higher (14-16psi) boost prior to it letting go. This also gets me kinda nervous cause he was running redline trans fluid and it still blew. I was also gonna start tuning for 20+psi by next month but I don't know now. I know that the tranny coolers are going to help but exactly how much will it help is the question. I'm gonna get the cooler kit from NSN and cross my fingers for now I guess....

Well, gears breaking has a lot to do on the weight of the car, but mostly on the gearing. We here have tested stock gears breaking for sure, only by load @ 500whp, so 400whp will break sooner or later on a fully stock loaded protege5.

GTX gears are tested to last @ 605whp DYNO, STREET AND RACE PROVEN on a 323, its a lighter box but it gives an idea.

Pricing is in the range of $2400-2500, and if you want a set of gears contact Nick at 1-732-222-3679

I bought a straight cut gearset. Just the fact that the gears are mounted on roller bearings rather than sleeves is well worth it.

B.T.W. the GTX gearset WILL eventually fail as the problem does not lie with gear strength but more with lack of proper oiling to the gears because of the sleeves.

So they only real solution is to geat a new gearset.

Focus, did you notice any differences with the new set up...ie smoother engagement, faster shifts ?

What about these gears? Anyone using them?

never seen this before... seems kind of cheap for a whole set... even cheaper than oem parts maybe.... who wants to be the guinea pig on this one?

thats real cheap, way to cheap to be good :) but yeah someone buy it and test it out, I have never heard of this company before

Well...for anybody that has 2,500 for a gearset...bad shifting and they are gone too.

All mazda cars here running over 400whp are using GTX gears, and some of them receive a lot of stress as a daily use.

Now...running 600+whp, you should not think its going to last forever, specially if you are running only turbo.

On the other hand running turbo nitrous has proven to make the gears last 10 times longer @ that much power.

subbin...i spoke w/ beau at MAM about new gear sets, capable of 180mph..he quoted me at 2800.00..which i didnt think was too bad..

I am not following you here, how does running Nitrous make the gears last longer? either way your producing the same friction on them

Less Shock..

Keola... based on what I saw briefly looking at the link, it only looked like a final drive ring gear... not a full gear set.... I'm going back to look at it again now to confirm.
