MP5 Stereo Installation

I'm trying to replace my stock head unit but every place I've been to tells me that no one makes an installation kit for my car yet. Is this true? If you know of someone that makes kits for our cars or another way of mounting an aftermarket head unit please let me know. Thanks.

i searched for 6 months before someone on here told me where to get one. cant remember the place..sorry. i got the wiring harness and a single din mounting kit but i was putting in a double din so i had to cut the pocket out of it and paint it, looks pretty good ,if i might say so. anyway look for an old thread titled wiring harness and it will tell you where to get it. good luck

i used black plexi

no that is BS, scoshe (SPELLing bad) makes one, Metra does too.

do a seach and you will find the model number

my friend who has a P5 just had an alpine deck installed. He didn't like the schoche kit, he wanted the same stereo pocket that came with my MP3. He ordered it from the Mazda dealer he bought his car from. I think it was called a Stereo Ornament..or something like that..but it was fricken pricey..about $140 canadian..

I just had an install done with the scosche kit. It didn't look like much in the package and it didn't look too sturdy, but it came with a nice little pocket(not covered)
anyway, if you look at the scosche site and do a search in their database/encyclopedia for the protege5, it tells you the kit number. warning: this kit was not listed anywhere else on their site. The only place that i could actually find it was at store.autotoys.com for about $15

it may not look custom, but it fits, holds 2 cds, and doesn't look too rediculously crappy.

I ordered a Kenwood for my MP5 from www.Crutchfield.com and it came with the scoshe adapter and Crutchfields Wireing harness that pluged right into the factory wire block....

Crutchfiled will sell the adapter plate and the wireing harness.

Hope this Helps.

it is very sturdy since i used particle board then the plexi went on top of the particle board i flushed the radio to give it the floating look but now i have to make another one becuase i just bought pioneer dehp9400mp so i am probably going to do something different maybe mount some guages this time and not center the radio.......
