MP3 vs Modded 2001 Neon

My bud at my work has a 2001 Neon with a Iceman CAI. He always talks so highly of his car so on Saurday after work i was like ill race you... he's like OK, im gonna win though....
We finally got to a red light and we were off. i kicked his ass right off the line. i launched at 2300 rpm and i stayed ahead of him the whole time..... Up to about 90 mph.... if i didnt have a good launch im sure we would have been close to a tie... i guess well have to see when i have my meet here in Michigan....

Come Chris, you speak like you fried my ass. I was at least even with your rear bumper the whole time and gaining, and I didnt have the best launch (and I still had the cover over my air filter). Oh yeah, I also had about 90 pounds extra in my trunk from my stock rims. Just remember, the numbers dont lie - with another 10 hp my car is faster (referring to the Neon R/T vs the MP3 in R&T and C/D). Our cars have virtually the same hp and torque. We will race again, after I get my new tires...

hey man, those wheels are dope! They make my car look stealth and what not. seriously, if they are lighter then the stock wheels i might just remount the pirelli's on there.

and once i get my intake put on then i should have some more power than you... and those HID headlights and the yellow fogs should gain me like 20 hp...lol...
OH and my zoom zoom stickers gave me some more power too...

i just checked the curb weight of your car and its 2559 lbs, the mp3 is 2760 so youve also got 200 lbs less than me so maybe that intake didnt give you 10 hp. but i have to admit that intake sounds bad ass.... it really changed the sound of your car...

isnt it? the old intake and resonator did alot to keep it quiet. I still randomly down shift just to hear the beastly growl. the best is in a parking garage, i end up drivin too fast in those cuz it sounds so much better

oh yeah, i havnt posted the meet info yet on the neon board cuz its been acting up the last few days, but when i find out i'll let ya know. That intake did give me 10, i have dyno charts to prove it, i just need to improve my starts and shifting. a solid motor mount or 2 helps a lot so i might order those.

that means your 0-60 should be faster than mine since you have the weight advantage... but you still cant take me on the twisties... HA HA HA....

yeah yeah, i know all about the whole MP3 is the best handling car. but mine will be close to yours after i get a more aggressive wheel alignment and get some upper and lower shock braces

is your suspension different than the R/T neon???
keep in mind the R/t did a .82 on the skid pad and the mp3 did a .92 i think

i am aware of those numbers, thats why the MP3 handles better...the slalom numbers show that too, not many cars get a 68.5mph. i believe my suspension is the same as the 2001's r/t, cuz i have the sport suspension package, and 2002 is when they added a third competition suspension package. if i do all those things to my car, the skid pad number will go up. i am already replacing the 185 tires with 205, that will make a diff.
