If someone already had a EBC would it work with the AEM EMS or would it not be needed

Hey when will this Aem engine management be available for us to buy?
We will be getting our beta boxes back this week that have been reconfigured. If they are straight then we just finish tuning. We are still on target for the beginning weeks of March.

Hi Nick,

Can you please gives us some more info on the fuel pump that you sell. You mentioned the Walbro 255. Is this the only one you have or do you have others. Is the Walbro 255 the best FP you have?

Nice to see someone coming up with this. A lot easier than creating an entire harness, building an instrument cluster, rewiring a car, and tuning from scratch, trust me.

Perfworks, I looked through the thread (Jeezzzz!! 466 posts???) and saw that you have traction control ability...just wondering if you have actually played with it and the principle behind how it works (timing cut, fuel cut, either, or other) or if it has ability to control an electronic diff. I've talked with the AEM guys for 3 years now. I think the product is a pretty good piece in general. I assume you need wheelspeed sensors on both driven wheels and one non-driven? Can you program for a % of slippage (for use on gravel)? Is "slippage" even a word?

As someone who has spent over $5000 in engine management and dyno work in the last year alone, I see this as very nice option for club racers, cone squishers, and weekend warriors.

TDK,
Sorry I have been away a little.
We dont believe that the Walbro is the best but it is a good replacement for what you have now. The Nippodenso found in the cosmo is my choice for a great pump. A little expensive, so we opt for a more economical approach with the Walbro.
A good inline pump like the Peirburg found in the FM kits is nice also. I like the fact that you have an insurance policy under boost with the inline pump. We can turn it on under boost with the AEM or on all the time. Fuel pressure will be controlled via AEM so it wont be an issue.
But we have the ability to aquire any of the pumps mentioned.

Thanks for the kind comments.
Traction control has not been attempted yet on the protege. It is a feature that is incorporated in the unit from its inception so it will work a number of different ways. Wheel speed sensors can be used via aftermarket, current ABS technology, or just thu engine dynamics. We will have time to play with this in the spring and give everyone an update. If an when this is available the customers who have already purchased the EMS will be upgraded for free with the software to run the basic setup thru engine braking or ABS if it applies. After that any additional hardware that will have to be fabricated will be offered at a proffesional discount.
If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

We have mentioned earlier to do a GB price of $1450 for the unit. Unfortunately we have to meet minimum price requirements thru AEM. This is actually a good thing so that all the vendors that Market AEM products will be fair and profitable.
Retail pricing after the GB will be $1595.
We are also looking at an additional charge of $250 for the WB needed for accurate feedback control.

nick, when will you be able to give us specifics on how this unit will help us N/A guys? i think i remember you talking about this unit helping non turboed cars too??? thanks!

An EMS is a Tuning device. It will allow you to tune the car to take better advantage of an mods you have done. Our cars run a bit rich so it would allow you to correct that. I see too many people talk about "bang for the buck" in regards to an EMS. An EMS does not add hp it releases HP that's lost due to the way the Stock ECU is tuned. Right now I'm N/A, but am looking at building up my engine for reliable Turbocharging. Which means I'm looking at a good EMS as well as forged internals, low silicon pistons, a bit of head work, beefed up suspension and urethane mounts before I even add the Turbo kit.

Nick, I have been reading this post for the last few weeks but there are a few questions
about your product. Will it be repackaged under a new name| And if service is needed will
there be local dealers in key cities ie Ft Laud. Will AEM have any input on how your
company sells and markets its product under a new name. Bye the way thank you for coming out with this product.

Yeah it sure doesn't even sound like an AEM product anymore, but I guess if they wrote the software.... they did didn't they? Whenever I talk to people about how I'm gonna try to go with an AEM standalone that is in production, everyone says, "Oh, the Supra ECU? Yeah that's alright", haha, I didn't realize apparently there is a census that AEM's ECU sucks, and only works really, for Supras. Luckily I get to say, "No, a speed shop is revamping the thing, pretty much just using AEM hardware, pure PnP, from them, not AEM. Unfortunately I can buy an AEM for about 1300, they sell em for about 1500 non standalone =p, although with all that custom work they had to do to overhaul crap to gold, I suppose I owe them more around 3k than half that"

I haven't really heard anything really bad about the EMS. I mean really I gives you controll over the ecu. Most problems probably are with the user. Poor tuning or not to familiar with the software.
