Hell you can go standalone for that price!PINCUSHION said:I asked, neither of the mazda dealerships in albuquerque will do it. I have one speed shop that said they could, but they had to send it out for $500 plus shipping, I could get a piggybak for that much.

The only problem is you need to have both cars there as it needs a port (not sure if it's the OBDII port or not) on each.
yeah...but the only reason to do that would be if you're going terbowho bag said:Now if that were true could it be done on a MSP ecu to a P5 ecu.....
how does the car perform with mp3 specs? is there a noticeable difference?kudakev615 said:mine has been flashed to mp3 specsit can be done. a tech at the local mazda dealership did it for me. dealerships reflash ecu's all the time for recall purposes i couldnt see it being but so hard.
ooo thats probably why you notice it a lil, higher octane gas. id hate to have to dump 93 in this little car. $36 to fill up with 87 is too much for me. and im not lookin to make this car fast, but rather to make it look goodkudakev615 said:yeah, it pulls strong to redline. i really couldnt testify on the ecu by its self. i did the ecu, intake, header, vtcc removal clutch and flywheel pretty much all at the same time. the reflash cost me nothing to do but ive gotta run premium fuel![]()
thats true. i dont think id wanna reflash my ecu all the time tho, especially with the way gas prices change. good idea thoJoshP5 said:I like the idea of having the option. If gas prices go up too high, reflash to p5 specs. When they drop, mp3. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but it would be nice to have the software for both on your laptop, just upload and go--no wrenching required.

ummmm ermmmm im pretty sure having a turbo now will not make you miss it anymoreKansei said:I really miss my MP3 ECU.. the car felt flat and dead without it, I was seriously shocked at how much of a difference it made.
no, higher octane does not automatically equal higher hp lol. It helps because the ECU is tuned to take advantage of the higher octane gas. The mixture is leaned out a decent amount and timing retarded a couple / few degrees (no idea how much, honestly). The top end isn't really THAT much improved, but the real gains come in your 'everyday driving' rpms. The midrang is a lot fatter / smoother than it was stock. I did mine a couple months after getting my intake and header, and there was a noticeable differenceredpr5 said:ooo thats probably why you notice it a lil, higher octane gas. id hate to have to dump 93 in this little car. $36 to fill up with 87 is too much for me. and im not lookin to make this car fast, but rather to make it look good
oh i know that higher octane doesnt immediately equal higher hp, it just helps. i might consider doing this after i move. is the low end any better? like is there any power before 2500?aMaff said:no, higher octane does not automatically equal higher hp lol.
