Ok, had my CEL codes checked out by a friend.

I throw a S#$Tload of codes...here we go...

P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Current Low Input
P0103 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Current High Input

I suspect the two above to be from when perfworks was taking voltage measurements from my MAF. No biggie there (I hope)

P0335 - Crank Shaft Position Sensor A Circuit

??? Stumped on this one.

P0140-O2 Sensor Circuit No activity

No big shock there, as I had it disconnected for a few days.

There was no description for this one, can anyone look it up in the manual for me?

YOu have a 2001 protege manual to check the codes right?
For some reasdon the MP3 and even the P5 use some different codes.

P1569 - VTCS solenoid valve circuit low input

Perfect. So now I only have one unexplained CEL...

P0335 - Crank Shaft Position Sensor A Circuit

Any ideas?

The shop manual has a couple pages on the reasons and diagnostics of that code.

P0335's diagnostic criteria is related to the MAF... if no signal is received from the CKP for 4.2s while MAF reading is 2.2g/s+ then DTC happens
there's nothing much to check at the CKP other than the resistance and maybe actual physical problems (dirt, damage, etc)

also
your P1569 happened BECAUSE you swapped from the MP3 ECU to the normal ECU... I'm not surprised this happened
I wrote a hacked up idea in defeating it in some other thread... I don't want to think about it again... it involves messing with wires

oh and it's difficult to determine why P0102 and P0103 is happening..... it COULD be a bad MAF or its just simply a vacuum leak or the turbo boost surge is ******* with the readings... the only sure way to figure this out is to log the ECU data stream from a drive cycle

perfworks had nothing to add on this one?
he just told me about it like 500 pm on wed.;) :p

well anyway i spoke with kooldino via phone and gave him my recommendation.
my belief is that once the ecu was swaped out for the P5 it threw a codealmost immediatly because of the VTCS. from then to now (after the turbo install) he had never gottent he CEL read via scan tool so he doesnt know the sequence in which these codes came in at.
but my theory is the following.
he had the fist CEL and tried disconnecting battery a couple of times and did nothing for him. after the turbo install the second O2 was left hanging ( which i believe still is). then threw another drivabilty or emmisions code there.
from there the ecu was still "seeing" numerous drive cycles without any fix. because of the turbo install the MAF was reading varoius eroneous air flow patterns. reporting them to the ecu via voltage outputs and then the ecu was sceptical on whether the MAF was reading right or if the engine was not running properly. normally if the system is not reading within papameters then it will start setting diagnostic codes for anything it thinks is out of spec untill a voltage test is done or reflashing of the ecu. he needs to get the O2 sensor in behind his high flow cat. from there i will get his wiring done to trick the ecu into not seeing an open circiut for the VTCS . IMO this will solve the problem for him. We also need to double check on any air leaks from the outlet side of the intercooler. some of those hoses were really not fitting very well.

Of course...I'd be worried if it didn't happen.

That's always been known/expected.

??? I did?

I wouldn't have bothered disconnecting my battery to avoid a CEL because I already knew that I should have one for VTCS.

after the turbo install the second O2 was left hanging ( which i believe still is).

Nah, I put it back in the day I had the exhaust done.
then threw another drivabilty or emmisions code there.

Does anyone else have the High/Low MAF voltage codes?

normally if the system is not reading within papameters then it will start setting diagnostic codes for anything it thinks is out of spec untill a voltage test is done or reflashing of the ecu. he needs to get the O2 sensor in behind his high flow cat.

True, but I'm gonna wait for my WB02 before I do.

from there i will get his wiring done to trick the ecu into not seeing an open circiut for the VTCS .

That'd be nice. We just gotta figure out what resistor/etc to use to trick it.

IMO this will solve the problem for him. We also need to double check on any air leaks from the outlet side of the intercooler. some of those hoses were really not fitting very well.

You think so? I'm pretty sure I'm not getting any leaks there or anything.

What's the "CKP"?

Ditto for "DTC"?

The only toying done to the MAF was when Perfworks was testing my MAF voltage...we had to expose a part of the wire to do so.

Update: Checked the car today after clearing the codes yesterday and I'm ONLY throwing the VTCS code as or right now.

well bringing this thread from the dead....just got my emissions test and I have the same codes as kooldino

p0102, p0103,p0335, and p0140....kooldino how did you handle this ...any advise?????I've search and read most threads but the p0335 code is the only one I dont know about and why it's coming up...

crank shaft postion sensor malfunction. What did you do to that thing?

What have you done to your MAF sensor?

Do you not have both your O2's hooked up?

Im doing the non-fouler fix for the second o2sensor but some rain is coming down..also im not running any cat's...I didnt expect to pass the emissions but it gives me 60 days to get it fix..which I need..(time)..I figured the others was due to the no cats and second o2 but
crank shaft sensor????I dont know
also Im turbo'd

Any engine managment that would of messed with that sensor? How about the MAF, is in installed correct? Have you played with the wires on that?

You will need to put in a high flow cat to pass emissions. I have a 3" exhaust with 1 high flow cat and passed MD state emissions. You will need to have a complete driving history on the ECU before you get tested, so you can't just reset the eCU and go back in, so that is out of the question. Should you need to unplug the battery to fix something, make sure you put a couple hundred miles on there before you go back or you will be wasting your time.

good to know..I just reset the ecu and did the non-fouler the guy at the emissions place said he will pass me ...but he has to connect the reader...but i'll order a high flow cat from vibrant and have it installed on my corksport exhaust...whats the reason for the p0335 code????
