MP-3 v.s.(Rustang)GT and a Jetta turbo

Last week-end I raced a lot of imports. One race that really sticks out in my head was against a 94 Rustang GT, and a Jetta with a stock turbo. But nobody wanted to race a V.W Jetta with a stock turbo, grantted because his car weighed 2600 LBS. Our car weighs about 3600 LBS. So I was giving him about a thousand pound advantage. I told him that I had a 55 shot of ZEX. So we lined up at the next light, and a 94 "Rustang" GT. My mistake was using NOS from the start, and not being able to put down any trackion till mid second gear. The Rustang, and Jetta caught traction before the MP-3 did. So bassically I started at there rear bumper, and stayed at the rear bumper all the way to 100 MPH. I think that was cool to see an MP-3 keep up with a Rustang GT and a Jetta w\ turbo.

Until Next race Mike

:D

im not sure what kind of car you have, but i remeber reading that the MP3 wieghs 2725lb., dont hold me to that number but i dont see how our car could weigh that much. Have u experienced any problems with the nitrous???

check out the curb weight. I think you're looking at the gross weight.

Uh.....3600 lbs? No way.

The Pros weigh about 1000 lbs less than that. And common sense MIGHT tell you that that there couldn't be a 1/2 ton difference between an MP3 and a Jetta.

Where you gettin' your numbers from??

I am getting my number from the inside of the door. A Jetta is heavy as hell, but a Jetta hatch back isn't that heavy. It only weighs about 2600 pounds. Ok you people are bassically telling me that I don't know the weight, but I am seeing only one person that is giving the weight. But he is saying that he isn't sure. So how about before I get criticized by everyone, someone produce some exact numbers. As far as the question about the N2O, I think it is very addicting. I like how it pulls, That whole night, I raced a Prelude, MX-6, Eclipse, and a 240sx, all had performance mods and I beat them all. But I raced the Mustang GT and the Jetta hatch back, with a stock turbo. I think if I wouldn't have used the N2O from first gear I would have been more of a continder, rather than playing bumper tag.

I think we may have just found the problem with the Jetta's weight. There is no such thing as a Jetta hatchback. There is a Jetta sedan and wagon. A jetta hatchback would be the VW Golf, which is basically a Jetta with two or four doors and a hatch. If it was the two door then it is pretty short and could weigh in the 2500 lbs range.

Sorry you feel offended, but common sense would tell you that a Protege can't weigh 1000 lbs. more than a Jetta.

But since you wanted a number:

The P5 weighs 2716 lbs manual, 2749 auto.

The Protege sedan weighs 2634 lbs manual, 2687 auto (MP3 should be very similar, maybe just a couple of lbs more for the body kit)

These are from Mazda's website. Why the auto in the P5 adds 33 lbs, while in the sedan it adds 53, who knows - maybe a typo, maybe something we don't know.

No stats are available on VWs site for curb weight.

What kind of Eclipse? Turbo, V6, which one?

The Eclipse is a GS, I think the guy is trying to make the outside of it look like the Eclipse off of the Fast and the Furious.

About finding the weight for my car there ezrider, thanks but common since would have told you that wasn't the point of the story. The point of the story is that I did something that your wagon will never do.:D

This guy is obviously not telling the truith about anything. He has common sense to use N20 but actually believe his car weighs that much more than a jetta?

If you don't mind me asking is that a wet or a dry shot you are using? Also, how do you know it is a 55 shot?

Thanks

So now I have Loser T1 calling me a liar, it did happen, thats fine if you don't believe me frankly I don't care. The N2O kit that I am running is a ZEX dry 55shot of N2O. If you don't believe me you can call them at (1-888-817-1008). But seeing how you don't believe me I guess you will be calling. Also I already said that I was wrong about the weight of the car. :D

Running a dry shot of that amount is not smart. I have used N20 for a long time and on these smaller engines they work much better and last longer with a wet system. Each to his own tho.

Just wondering, how is the wet shot better? The guy at ZEX told me that it was the safest system out there. But he could have been telling a story to get me to get the kit any other opinions on the dry kit. How could the dry shot be dangerous?

Well, I do not know member LS1, but I can only surmise he is driving a GM, possibly an F-Body, or a Vette. LS1 is an engine code, like FS-ZE or whatever, for the GM 5.7 V8, base model is 310hp(Z28), and depending on trim, and factory tuning 325hp(Camaro SS), or 350hp(Corvette).

the 3600 lb weight you got was the gross weight....meaning the weight of the car plus the maximum amount of weight it can carry....thats how they measure it.

To get a real curb weight #, look in a magazine or look it up online.....it is something around 2700 for a mp3
