moving to north carolina

so i'm in the process of deciding where to move. I've lived in NY state my entire life and i'm an education major so i'm making the move. Education jobs in NY are scarce especially in physical education. I don't want to move too far from home but i want warm weather more often than we have here. I"m a car guy and a motorcycle fanatic and NY weather just doesn't suit my passion. I don't know anyone personally on here yet. I've made one purchase from a board member and it was an easy transaction. I met a lot of friends on my last forum and i'm hoping to do the same here.

I'm leaning more towards the Charlotte/Mech. area but closer to the coast would be nice too.

so anyone from the entire state can chime in to help a fellow mazda owner out on their insight on what they like/dislike about where they live. Anything would be helpful because this is a big move.

thanks

Matt

charlotte, alot like new york, a little slower paced, alot of people and things to do, lakes, 2 hours from the mountains, a few hours from the beach.

i live in matthews nc(outskirts of charlotte). pretty decent place. decent mazda following in the surrounding areas

funny i was actually thinking of the matthews area. seems like a nice place. anything you don't like about it? i'd like to find an apartment in a country like setting because i have a dog and want to be able to just let her out on a runner or something. any advice on where to look for something like that?

some apartments around matthews and the arboretum area have dog parks and stuff and are pretty pet friendly areas i live in matthews as well and there are a decent amount of fairly priced houses to rent too if u want to go in that direction

well this isn't a permanent thing right away. it's more of a trial to see if we like it so i'll probably stick to an apartment. any places around Charlotte i should stay away from?

places to stay away from: west side, south side, north side. i hope that helps haha. its hard to choose where, i live in a nice part of charlotte near the lake, but 5 minutes down the road is west blvd.
