motor build?

Intercooler core is now installed. Pipes are being welded and fitted. Should be bring pipes to the powder shop in about a week. Ill be looking into getting an ebc soon. Im thinking about an hks version 6 what is everyone else running for boost controll?

So the turbo has been clocked again to fit a shorter distance to the intercooler. Pipes are at the powdershop and will be back in a week. Went to get the fuel pump put in and it wont fit. Its a walbrough 400 so i might need to buy another fuel pump. Aem ignition coils also getting installed. Gonna double check the sparkplugs to make sure they will work with the aem system. Next the oil system will be getting installed. Fuel hose is installed on the fuel rail now. Seems like there is a bit of a gap with the 1000cc injectors and the 505 intake manifold so im hoping its not going to leak.

So I might have to bring my car to yet another shop to do the final tuning. Not sure yet. Im being told that I should just run a thicker oil instead of the upgraded oil pump. If anyone has any other info on the oil pump and prv I would really appreciate it.

Whoever told you that has NO knowledge of engines or how the oil system works, and is probably just too lazy to plumb it up.

If you can, read the oil pump thread in the Doc B Racing section....should answer most of your questions.

Thanks!
Tom

Umm, if you are building the engine why skimp on the oil pump? Probably the #1 vital piece of your engine....

Thicker oil will not be needed, it can actually be harmful, just run a good quality oil.

Well it was the guys at vex. What they were telling me is that they normally just modify the oil pump guess they had never heard of the external prv. I showed them the thread and explained it and they agreed to do it now. And i decided to bring it to vex for the final shop because i called haltech usa and they are 1 of 2 authorized haltech dealer and installers in calgary. Rcts told me they were authorized but i was told otherwise when i called haltech. All the ******* shops are pissing me off.

Well the modified oil pump is allready installed, its just the prv they were bitching about. I was thinking of running royal purple 5w30 after break in but they are telling me to run rotella or somthin. I forsure am not willing to skimp on the oil pump or anything that will extend my engine life for that matter.

Ya i have read through the thread many times. I was just trying to get the shop to understand why i want to use it. Guess its not common running an external prv even on allot of other cars with oil issues like wrxs and some skylines.

Totally different type of oil pump in those motors vs the FS-DE

Vex dissapoints me...

Call Toma for your Haltech. That guy is the MAN when it comes to that system.

Run Rotella 15W-40 for break in, then after 1500-2000 Km you can switch to synthetic. Don't go 1500Km on the original oil, change it often with more Rotella, but go that long before going synthetic.

Well reg at rcts has allot on tuning experience. He used to work on f1 cars. I think im just gonna stay at rcts and get them to do the oil system and aem coils. Im probably gonna just run the stock injectors for break in. And ya ill pick up some rotella or somthin soon. Ill post some pictures once the pipes are all in and more progress is made. My pipes are supposed to be ready friday morning.

Flip that BOV 180* around. You'll get easier access for the vacuum line and it will keep water from collecting in it and being sucked into your intake.

Lol ya we were actually just talkin about that when i was at the shop. Turns out this bov is counterfit too which kinda sucks. Hopefully it doesn't leak. Next up is the oil system. Might just get a 2 way drain so the oil system and turbo both drain into the same spot on the oil sandwhich plate.
