you guys get ready for this one, i was gettin my car fixed after being in my *ahem* accident. and the transmission linkage was messed up. so the moron mechanic worked on it, (i dont know why) didnt put the parking brake on. so, while he was under it, it popped out of gear, rolled out of the garage, and hit another car. therefore taking a whole extra week to fix, can you believe that?!?! i wonder what kind of operation theyre running there, having someone under a car working and not take all the necessary precautions to ensure no one gets hurt/nothing gets damaged.

make sure they dont charge you for that repair, too 
My friend got his Golf outa the shop after getting new brakes and he got a parking ticket on it because they parked his car on the street. Mechanics not paying for the ticket.
All these stories just make me more adamant about doing all my own work, well, at least as much as i can.
Are shop manuals readily available yet? I havent heard about thems for a while.

i had a shop try and do that to me too... but my car got towed... They said thats my problem, so i sent them a letter from my lawyer (who just happens to be my cousin so there was 'no charge').. they paid for the impoud right away. If they cause you grief, tell them to smarten up.. but DONT whine... try and argue in a 'mature' manner.
well, the thing is, theyre paying for it, as the rightly should. the problem was they didnt tell us until a week after it happened. they had told us i would get it back last friday, and that happened, and we finally asked why we didnt have it back yet and they fessed up. its all about the inconvenience of me not having a car to get to and from work and school.

It surely helps when your own sister marries an auto mechanic! Lucky me. After my accident, he had a good friend, an auto body mechanic, fix my car. I didn't even have to pay the deductible and all repairs and scheduled maintence are done for free, except for parts of course.
