I spent $2 this week on coffee in the morning before going to class. The rest of the time I ate in. It really saves a bunch of money over the long run, especially since I just got a $280 ticket for, of all things, not stopping completely at a stop sign, so I had to cut back on eating out. I spent about $45 in groceries this weekend and I still have enough to last me through next week.
The best thing to do is get hookups. Find friends, they don't even have to be MSP or Mazda owners, that are social butterflies and know a ton of people. I have a friend with a 95 n/a-T Supra that he did himself, and he gets discounts on rims, suspension, etc. I go through him first to see how much things will cost, and I don't get charged shipping or tax. Just go out and meet people.
Side note: Some school have pre-law programs, like the Ivy league schools and such. There isn't one at my school, but I just took a bunch of law classes and seminars geared towards law school. It doesn't even matter what major you have to get into law sschool, but I hear English helps out a lot once you get there. I'm sure the second highest ranked public school in the country (Michigan) will have such a program.
