Modding & Warranties: Advice for dealing with Mazda Dealers & Mazda NA

The only way Mazda can void your warranty is if the dealership states the mods that you have, then it's up to National Mazda if they want to void your powertrain warranty or not.

Actually, according to the Magnuson Moss Act, the onus is on Mazda to PROVE that your modification directly attributed to the malfunction in question. There must be hard evidence that they can point to to prove this. They cannot take a picture of a mod on your car and say "historically X mod has caused Y malfunction". They must PROVE that your mod caused your malfunction. It must be evidence unique to your vehicle. Without such evidence they are only blowing smoke and are in violation of the Magnuson Moss Act.

I'm very familiar how the Magnuson Moss Act works, but when you're in a situation where MazdaUSA voids your warranty for an intake, then it's up to you contact an attorney in order to reinstate your coverage. Plus, the only thing you can take Mazda to court for your warranty and to sue them for your "inconvenience" which would probably end up being denied. At the end of the day, you're still out court and attorney fees.

I spoke with customer service and spoke with a supervisor from Mazda along with my dealership and didn't get anywhere, so I traded the car and didn't look back.

i asked my dealer about what i could do to my car mod wise and still keep my warranty intact, and they said anything i buy from them, including the ms cai and anything they install thats made by mazdaspeed, for the ms3. but they said they will let some things slip like exhaust if its not causing any problems. but im also on really good terms with the garage manager at the dealer i go to, and with the dealer overall.

mod away

doing powertrain mods you could have problems, what about exterior and inter mods just take that road so you only have to worry about rust warrenty. rims, kits, color, spoilers, gaurds so on.

For those that have the Cobb or similar SRI and turbo inlet:

I noticed that you have to remove (and in a couple cases incapacitate) certain stock parts to put these on. how do you remove them to look presentable for service?
