Nothing is "missing".
In that hole, you will find a nozzle that sprays fluid on the rear window.

Ceric, thanks.

i'll go and take a look inside the hole tonight. it's my wife's car so she has it during the days.

weird how mazda would recess something like that so far inside the spoiler body. who knows what their logic was.

thanks

cerlic, you are correct about the water squirter tucked way inside the hole of the spoiler. pretty odd how that was configured as such. oh well.

thanks

The "logic" per se was to avoid clogging.

One more thing. The fluid comes from the same tank as the fluid for the front wind shield.
If the rear fluid is gone, that means the front fluid is near empty also.
It serves as an "early warning".

One more thing about the rear washer nozzle

This is one of my small nitpicks with this car. The rear washer nozzles sprays a lot of fluid but it doesn't disperse it well on the window. It basically sprays straight down. This might be OK if it was on the same side as the "home" position for the rear wiper but it's not. The wiper sits on the opposite side and by the time it sweeps over, most of the fluid has dripped off the rear window and down the tailgate. The solution is to keep spraying fluid as the wiper sweeps back and forth but it's a waste of fluid and requires the wiper to make several passes over the dry (and dirty) side of the window before things start to clean up. It's not the biggest deal but it feels a little sloppy on a car that is otherwise so well executed.

Re-Aim

You can re-aim washer nozzles by inserting a pin or needle into it and gently adjust it to where you want it to spray. For some reason one of my front ones decided to spray over the car. I just put a pin in and adjusted it to shoot lower. I'll have to check if my back one needs to be adjusted, I haven't used it yet.
