Mirror torn off by trucker :(

A trucker tore my driver mirror off tonight. What's the figure to get that replaced by the dealer?

I have 0 deductible on my insurance, and since the mirror was ripped off from a truck passing me (cutting me off) I am not at fault. So I am weighing wether to pay it myself (get it at a scrap yard or what not) or to claim through my insurance. I figure if it is < 250 dollars canadian I will cough it up myself. Any more than that I will claim.

PS. Driving without a driver mirror is scary stuff.

or you can get the carbon fiber M3 mirrors and slap them on :)

they are not motorized...
besides, I like the look of my mirrors..
:'(

yea don't bother with that apc crap. Sux about getting your mirror riped off, at least thats all that was damaged...crazy truckers(notcool)

I don't know how your insurance works in the great white north...but here that sort of thing would be covered under our comprehensive coverage...and it does NOT go against you when it comes to jacking up your rates....seeing as it was NOT your fault.

my concern is that he might deny it was him who cut me off...

any paint evidence(probably not since you dont have the mirror?!?!) but man, youll maybe need to call m,azda, the mp3 doesnt have a trim around the mirrors, and all others do.

that sucks man. hopefully your insurance will cover it and you'll be all set to get the mazdaspeed, with new mirrors that are still attached

oh thats right the base of the mp3 mirror is body color insted of black. My dealer just got a new parts list and it has every mp3 part in it so it may not be a prob.

Further investigation shows the mirror damabed the body as it was folded forwards... :( So I have no choice but going through insurance...

I am talking about the thin strip of metal going from the side of the car up to the roof.. as the mirror folded forward it crushed that part of the body.. so yeah, a dent. Big one, too.

well, they should be able to pull it out, and repaint...that part is called the pillar.

anyhow, did it scrape to bare metal?

since yoiu have a zero deductable, call insurance.it would probably be covered under one of the clauses,. however...they shouldn't be able to raise your rates, seeing as how you were not at fault.

Man that SUCKS. Take pics if you can, so we can all see.

You pay good $ for insurance, use it. This it why you have it.

It is a clean dent, no scratch. After all the outside of the mirror is smooth. I'm not sure how that piece of frame removes but I'm not willing to try and find out. And my rates won't go up only if the other guy admits to what happened.. but seeing as he didn't even @#$!@#$ stop at first... well, in cases when that happens insurances here make it a 50 / 50 responsibility.

Incidentally, you should know that insurances in quebec are different than elsewhere.. If I get run over by a hummer which wrecks my car, and I am not at fault, my insurance pays for the repairs or replacement, not the hummer's guy's insurance. It's called no fault insurance. The only difference is that if you are at fault, your premiums increase marginally (essentially the value of the claim divided by I think a couply of years.. so a 3K accident may cost you between 500-1000$ extra premiums for 5 years). But I pay them 1600CAD a year so fair is fair that I get ROI on my investment.

Why is no fault insurance a good idea? Well, you don't have to chase some broke MOFO for the repair money which you might never get...

Hey Enry...where did that happen??

I was on the met west taking the 15 north exit. I am in the far right lane, truck is on my left, he starts merging (did not @#$@#$ signal). In a normal condition I would have had time to slam the brakes and squeeze to the right but there were those cement things they use for construction since the rond-point acadie is being rebuilt, so given the choice between scraping against concrete I chose to scrape against a truck, at least there I stand a chance not to be judged responsible for the damage..

That really sucks...did he even realized that he hit you??

I hate all the construction they are doing in the south shore and Montreal...soooo much traffic...the signs are really bad...last week I hit this pot hole going about 100 km/h...holy s***...did I ever feel the pain...
